English version of "Torebka Mamusi", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, consists of two separate ~5 minute episodes titled "The Great Search" (as episode 11) and "The Party" (as episode 12). The latter UK episode is also including footage from the episode "Królewski rubin". Both UK episodes were originally broadcast in 1983 on Central Independent Television, as part of its "Watch It!" strand of children's programming.
Episode "The Great Search":
- Some shots are missing from the scene where Thingumy and Bob come looking for a breakfast only to see the sadden Moominmamma on the porch. Also missing is the scene where Moominpappa gets up from the rocking chair after reading a paper and comforts Moominmamma.
- Throughout the episode there are scenes of various Woodland Spirits and animals (mainly birds, hedgehogs, butterflies and ladybugs) searching the missing handbag from the Moominvalley. The UK version omits some of these shots and scenes during and after the Moominpappa's speech. The subjective camera shot from owl's binoculars is also missing.
- The scene where Moomintroll comes to the cellar door and Sniff comes out from the barrel is missing from the UK version.
- At the end of the UK episode "The Great Search", Thingumy and Bob return the handbag to Moominmamma. Some shots from this scene are missing.
Episode "The Party":
- The first half of the UK episode basically includes the ending sequence of the original episode "Torebka Mamusi" (#9), where the Moomin family is preparing the garden party. It's also showing the actual party in the evening with fireworks, drinks and dancing.
- The second half of the UK episode is taken from the original episode "Królewski rubin" (#10). The garden party continues during the night and Thingumy and Bob decides to surprise everyone by revealing the red ruby from the suitcase. In the UK episode the original order is reversed and the Hobgoblin with his black panther at the Moon's surface is then introduced.
