English version of "Spelnione zyczenia", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, was shortened and re-edited to a ~5 minute episode titled "Special Wishes". It was originally broadcast in the UK in 1983 (as episode 19) on Central Independent Television, as part of its "Watch It!" strand of children's programming. There are missing or rearranged shots almost throughout the episode, but the main differences include:
- The original opening shots of the Moominvalley and the forest are missing from the UK version (UK episode opens with the shots from the original episode #12, "Wielki festyn" instead).
- Hemulen splashing water on the little forest creature (who's then running to the arms of Moominmamma) when the table flies off is missing from the UK version. Also missing is the shot of Woodland Spirits and Moominpappa looking at the flying table.
- The sequence in the woods where Snufkin is playing a flute and smoking a pipe next to a bonfire is shorter in the UK version. Absent is the sequence where the little creature goes swimming and has a conversation with Snufkin.
- Missing from the UK version is the scene after Snork Maiden's eyes have returned to a normal form and she looks herself from Hemulen's mirror. Also missing are the reactions from the Woodland Spirits, and the scene where Snork Maiden and Hemulen are walking away after the kiss.
- When all wishes are granted, Moomintroll puts the record on and Moominmamma brings pancakes for everyone. Thingumy and Bob are first in line, followed by Snork Maiden who's taking pancakes also for Hemulen. Then Moominmamma brings pancakes for the Hobgoblin. In the UK version, you only see the last wider shot of the table (with butterflies) where the Moomin family is eating.
- The most notable difference in the UK version is the scene where Thingumy and Bob had wished for another red ruby for the Hobgoblin himself, who then takes the ruby from the ground and puts it under his jacket. After that there's a reaction shot of Thingumy and Bob cheering. This brief scene in the UK version is taken from the original episode #12, "Wielki festyn".
