It was unexpected for the 'Tnagled' fans. I'm one of them. Apart from the short film, they had forgotten about this potential animation franchise. It has been 7 years since the first film and now this television film suddenly made its way. It is an hour long film and a television series is to follow. That news is even more exciting, isn't it. I already saw a couple of episodes and it was equally brilliant. It is good for Disney channel after their top show 'Girl Meets World' concluded, this one is replaced it just like that.

This is not a 3D animation, but a product for television in this format is not bad. Because I've seen 3D format TV series and I feel the quality is yet to improve. In fact, the 2D animation was awesome. From the textures to the colours, film characters, backgrounds, it was impressive. Very happy that they have retained almost all the voice-over artists. The original tale means always about the long hair princess. They wanted to keep that way. So that's why this film before the series to commence which reveals an important detail.

I would say it is a breakthrough for the directors. From this success, I'm anticipating them to involve in a feature 3D animated film for Disney. Despite this triumph, I am hoping for a sequel to the 2010 film, particularly after the first season and before the second to commence to follow from that film. Anyway, this is short and sweet, a film not to be missed by animation fans, especially by Disney fans.

I saw some bad reviews on this earlier so figured i would weigh in

The only thing I did not like like about it was the formulaic singing that Disney seems to do with all their stuff, I believe Disney has some kind of computer program, and anyone who sings, especially women, must adhere to this voice to within 95%, so we always get nice sounding voices with very little range. But no highs or lows, the same sounding voice over and over.

I did not detect any sort of lesbian thing here, the relationship between daughter and Father is strongly emphasized

The animation is weak and will probably be dinged as low budget, but its serviceable

It comes across as a movie targeting girls between K-10 grades, but my wife and i enjoyed it, which is saying something since both of us often avoid Disney, their stuff is pretty redundant

Hopefully the upcoming episodes will be as enjoyable

It is so lovely, although it is 2D. Everything from characters to action to backgrounds to story is perfect. You should put in on your watchlist. It's for kids, as well for the older fellows.

Fun to watch

This animated film tells the story of princess Rapunzel who is going to be crowned. Due to her mishap, her long blonde hair grows back.

It tells a story of a merry misadventure, which leads to Rapunzel growing and learning about herself. The characters are visually pleasing and the plot is engaging. It is fun to watch.

good Disney TV

Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) and Eugene (Zachary Levi) are back. They are back within the castle walls although she yearns for the wider world. She's being welcomed as a princess by her overprotective father King Frederic (Clancy Brown). Eugene proposes to Rapunzel and suddenly, she feels trapped. She sneaks out of the castle with her lady-in-waiting Cassandra and return to the power of the miracle flower.

The animation has the look of a children's book. It serves to launch Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. I thought right from the start that Rapunzel isn't Rapunzel without her hair. It's good to get it back for her and it has a nice twist. This is good Disney TV.

I'm sure the core target audience will enjoy it

Not bad for a Disney Channel sequel.

'Tangled: Before Ever After' is animated in a similar style to 'The Lion Guard' ('The Lion King' sequel) films. In terms of comparing those two, this 2017 production beats those three follow-ups. It's severely weaker animation, but it does the intended job.

I was pleasantly surprised to hear the same cast involved from the original film, that's always a big positive. Mandy Moore (Rapunzel) and Zachary Levi (Flynn) are fine, while the new additions of Eden Espinosa (Cassandra) and Laura Benanti (Lady Caine) aren't noteworthy at all; very average characters in truth.

I can't hate on this too much though, I'm sure the core target audience will enjoy it and, after all, it is one of Disney better made-for-TV/direct-to-video animated sequels.

Just as not every woman was born to be a mother, not every heir was born to be a monarch...

It could be the start of a lifetime of happiness for Rapunzel, but things aren't exactly going as she dreamed. As Eugene quickly adjusts to his new life of luxury at court, for Rapunzel, life as a princess in the Kingdom of Corona is proving to be more complicated than she anticipated. Overwhelmed by new responsibilities, Rapunzel and her friend and nurse Cassandra set off on a night of freedom in which Rapunzel's blonde hair grows back. Can she accept all that this represents?

That square graphic and less charismatic and charming than the original, focusing on the script, simple, continuous (with its antecedents), musical in measure, a message of female freedom (attempted) giving rise to a continuation... The after "Happily Ever After", just as not every woman was born to be a mother, not every heir was born to be a monarch...

Gentlemen Marry Brunettes

This pilot film expands on a lot of things, such as Rapunzel's new relationship with her parents and her evolving relationship with Eugene.

King Frederic (Clancy Brown) is not much different from Mother Gothel, but his love for Rapunzel is genuine. Brown is pretty much a perfect casting choice for the King.

The pilot and the series are also the first time I actually like Eugene. I didn't love him in the film. I thought he was just a pretty boy and one of those male Disney characters who teaches the female about the world. In the series, he's shown to be a good boyfriend to Rapunzel, one who supports her even after her hair grows back. He's pretty similar to Aladdin in this respect.

Cassandra is a great new character and has a lot of funny lines. For all of her problems, she makes me laugh.

At first I thought that Rapunzel's hair growing back was kind of a gimmick, but it turns out there's a mystery behind it which sets up the overarching story of the series.

The animation is great. It's even better looking than the film, with bolder colours and simpler character designs. I never get tired of watching this pilot film.

Some of the character designs I don't love so much, like the rat-faced guy.

Anyway, it's a very enjoyable pilot film for a great series.

Disappointed to say the least

Its unbelievable how this sequel was even approved to go in production. I am OK with low budget movies, I can even understand creators trying to save on CGI by creating animation that we used to see 20 years ago. But come on - script??!! I think it's been written in one weekend. And I doubt it was a long weekend. Completely toothless, zero humor. So beautifully animated Tangled with great dialogue that appealed to both kids and parents is turned into a forgettable princess movie for 6-7 year olds. Disappointed!

After 7 years Tangled has finally come back again(an odd spoiler)

So a lot of you mightn't know this but I am a huge fan of the 2010 film Tangled starring Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi. It was funny,romantic,and most importantly it was full of nostlagia and heart. After the 2012 short of Tangled, both Nathan Greno and Bryon Howard announced that Tangled was done and dusted and to me I was kinda disappointed when they said this because I loved Tangled so much especially both Rapunzel & Eugene and I wanted more adventure and fun with these two charcthers.

But suddenly out of the blue,it was announced that Tangled will return back again with a new TV special movie and of course a TV show based on the 2010 hit film of the same name.

Enough of me rambling about Tangled,lets go into the new show now shall we.

The story kicks off after Rapunzel's coronation from Tangled(2010)and Rapunzel(voiced by the original voice actor Mandy Moore)is struggling to come to terms with her new found home, her boyfriend Eugene Fizherbert(aka Flynn Rider) voiced by Zachary Levi)wants to marry her,even proposing to her with a lovely ring. But of course she doesn't want to get married to him yet and says she does love him but she wants to see more of the world again. Since Rapunzel's father is so overprotective of her,Rapunzel runs away with her friend Cassandra and stumbles across a mysterious rock. But when Rapunzel touches the mysterious rock,her brown short hair turns back to the way it was when Rapunzel was kidnapped by Mother Gothel from the first film. Terrified she tries to hid her hair,only to get caught by Eugene and Rapunzel thanks him for being understanding and not freaking out over her hair. Later an evil woman called Lady Kane comes along to the castle and things are about to get down.

So will Rapunzel save her kingdom from Lady Kane. Now before I give you my final verdict here is my good,bad and then verdict.

Good: All the original actors are back Mandy Moore,Zachary Levi,Jeffrey Tambor etc ,plus Rapunzel's parents can finally talk and they have names now; Queen Ariana(voiced by Julie Bowen which was suppose to be Ashley Judd but she dropped out)and King Fredric(voiced by Clancy Brown). The story is again heartwarming and the animation is great but.....

Bad: I miss the CGI animation from the original Tangled film,because the charcthers were more real looking and my question is how come the likes of How To Train Your Dragon stayed CGI as a TV show when Tangled didn't. Yes maybe its got to do with the budget and all but still I do miss the CGI animation from the 2010 film.

The songs are good too but there No I See The Light,When Will My Life Begin etc. Alan Menken and Glen Slater are back once again to do the songs in this. This time the songs are Wind In My Hair(which is a nice balled sung by Mandy Moore)and Live Happily Ever After All sung by Mandy Moore,Clancy Brown and Zachary Levi. Levi again is hilarious as Eugene Fitzherbert and even more dreamy(although his other counterpart in the 2010 version was more better in design).

Overall I am so happy that Tangled is back again in my life and I am looking forward to getting this and the TV Show on DVD(if it gets released which I am praying it will be).

Disappointed!

I had heard this Tangled show was amazing, so I thought I'd give it a shot. And to be honest, I didn't care for it. Tangled: Before Ever After would be dull without Eugene/Flynn. Rapunzel's choices in this movie were odd and her character just seemed off. I didn't care for her at all. I missed seeing the interactions between Pascal and Maximus with the other characters. Eugene was the same as ever: perfect. The songs were alright but nothing like Tangled. Lastly, the plot was pretty weak.

Overall, a forgettable sequel.

Tangled up in failure

Seeing that this sequel of Tangled went from animation to cartoon became a disappointment, that I could only watch 3 to 5 minutes of it. Certainly not the best in entertainment quality, to watch over and over. Only kids may get into this easily but not enjoyable for the whole family. Not really fun to watch!

A Disney Channel Original Movie takes place between Tangled (2010) and the short film Tangled Ever After. It serves as the "first episode" to Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure.

Not a fan of the animation style, the songs are weak (except "Life After Happily Ever After" and "Wind in My Hair) compared to Tangled, dialogues and the whole vibe felt detached from it's predecessor.

Now it's weird hearing the name "Corona" over and over again. If Disney ever make a live-action adaptation of Tangled, prepare for a name change.
