Muddled Video

I absolutely love this song but I think the video is a bit muddled. There's just too much going on to follow the narrative. I have no idea why a weird oriental vibe with the belly dancing is shoehorned into this.

For the sight of young teenage ingenue Hilary Duff as a Turkish belly- dancer, this one just cannot be beat. It is absolutely mesmerizing, it's just too good to be true, wow, Hilary! Yeah, well, the competition was Britney Spears, and, up against all that, teeny-bopper Hilary had to do something to get a bit of attention, hence the decidedly much more mature approach in this music video. In her skimpy costume, Hilary is simply breath-taking. But come off it, the 'love Dove' ® remains as innocent as the morning rain, and I suppose there was an electrified fence underneath those bed covers in her bedroom scene, hey, the kid's from a good home! She might fill stadiums with legions of fans, but we're all kinda sure she's pure as the driven snow however hard she tries to prove she's all grown up. It's in her every move, innocent kid, innocent kid, trying very hard to be adult.

Also, who'd cheat on Hilary? It seems so unnecessary, she is this most exciting young girl. Then, again, life is like that, no matter how pretty you are, it could happen to you. But, wow, the guy's gotta be stooopit, look at what he's got... One more time now: Oh, wow, Hilary! Big sigh.
