- Quotes
Jonah Hex: Where's Rip?
Sara Lance: He's MIA.
Jonah Hex: Damn. How the hell did you miscreants manage not to get yourselves killed without him?
Amaya Jiwe: Miss Lance has been serving as captain.
Jonah Hex: But she's a lady. You're a lady, right?
Sara Lance: You know I can take your life as easy I saved it.
Jonah Hex: Oh, fiery. Whoever breaks her is in for a wild ride.
Mick Rory: Too bad this filly's into other fillies.
Mick Rory: [laughs]
Jonah Hex: You don't say.
For what it's worth, I thought last season's "The Magnificent Eight", where Jonah Hex was introduced, was weak. So, I wasn't all that surprised to find tonight's trip back to the old west just as dull. Hex himself was fine last year and was fine tonight. I don't find there to be anything special about his presence, but I thought the choice to have Sara be his pair/partner tonight really worked.
I get that Quentin Turnbull is supposed to be Hex's archenemy, but I didn't find anything in his character that could separate him from the likes of every other villain on Legends. I think that's one of the things that this show has always struggled with. Luckily, we know the Legion of Doom are coming. But I hope the writers spend a bit more time fleshing out their villains so that we as an audience connect more with the human side of them. You can't just have every villain be going after a powerful object or device. Tonight, that object came by the form of Dwarf Star Alloy, the very thing Ray used to make his A.T.O.M. Suit.
The other notable side arc was Stein having serious headaches which could be a result of plenty of time jumps or even his run-in with his younger self once again. I'm far more interested in what Barry ended up telling them and why they haven't told the crew yet. Could this be something that comes to a forefront during this massive 4-night crossover in a few weeks? I sure hope so. But overall, this episode failed to really interest me, even with the welcomed appearance of Jonah Hex.
