Saint-Ouen-San Francisco was shot entirely in optical film in Paris in seven days. There are no images shot in the town of Saint-Ouen (93). The camera used is a super Aaton 16mm.
Saint-Ouen-San Francisco was born from an encounter with a comedian. It was Satya Dusaugey, himself, who inspired the character of Mathias. Claude Chamis made this film for Satya Dusaugey and he think this film, this character of Mathias are extremely close to him, that Satya is really in life. It is an authentic, faithful portrait of Dusaugey. During the filming the actor and the character intertwined, melted into each other, until dizziness. For Chamis, Satya Dusaugey reminded a lot of Jean-Paul Belmondo, but a Belmondo emptied, unfriendly and depressed.
"From Saint-Ouen to San Francisco" is the first film of the company Cobalt Films, created by Sylvain Maugens and Karen Peraldi in 2008.
