English version of "Dom w którym straszy", adapted by
Anne Wood of the production company FilmFair, was shortened and re-edited to a ~5 minute episode titled "The Haunted Theatre". It was originally broadcast in the UK in 1983 (as episode 51) on "Children's ITV" (on Central Independent Television). Missing from the UK episode:
- The extended shot of Moomintroll watching himself from the mirror and waving; the Mymble, Whomper and Little My being scared when they see someone in the shadows for the first time; the group peeking behind the curtains; the group wandering in a prop room, and the extended shot where Whomper is climbing onto a knight's armor until it breaks.
- The sequence where Little My and the Mymble are playing with the costumes and wardrobe is mostly moved to be a part of the UK episode "Emma the Theatre Rat" (#53): a close-up of Little My, the Mymble trying a hat, Little My emptying the boxes and playing with an oversized hat (with the Mymble dressed as a king), and the Mymble and Little My fighting over the crown.
- Whomper bumping into the statue with a prop sword, and waving his sword when he sees the eyes and the shadow in the dark; Whomper, the Mymble and Little My coming out of the ripped stage backdrop, and a close-up of Snork Maiden; additional shots of the shadow; Little My and the Mymble hiding under and behind the chair, and Snork Maiden covering her eyes; the shots of the flooded forest.
- The UK episode ends with the shot of Moominpappa hugging his son, then fading to black. Missing is the original ending at night, where Moominmamma is serving porridge to others and the "shadow" reveals herself - being Emma, the grumpy theatre rat. After her rant, she starts cleaning the floor. The episode ends with the shot of the floating house in a moonlight.
