This short represents the only Academy Award ever awarded to a Laurel and Hardy movie. Additionally, The Music Box features Billy Gilbert, already comfortably ensconsed in his " slow burn" routine, which was serviceable for the next 40+ years more or less unchanged. The plot revolves around the delivery of a player piano to a house on top of a tremendous fight of steps ( the steps are still there in LA, unchanged, as they stood almost 90 years ago!). The piano's and its trip up these steps to the "Gilbert" house IS the plot of plots for Laurel and Hardy, and it's trip up and down the steps, under and NOT under control their control, is as perfect a platform (1932) as any of their classics to follow.
