In just over a decade Blumhouse Productions has gone from a very smart agile indie to possibly the most significant horror production company out there. It’s slate is huge, it most quickly and cheaply, trusts in its creators and favours originality and genuine scares. Though the pandemic has meant certain release dates have had to move, or not as yet locked in, it’s clear the Blumhouse juggernaut is showing no signs of slowing. It has several film in production, with release dates set for 2021 and even more movies in various states of development.
We’ve rounded up the latest on all of Blumhouse’s upcoming horror movies. Note: we have not included TV, we haven’t included anything which is clearly not a horror and the projects which have been in development hell for many years are summarised briefly at the end. We’ll keep this updated so...

The first footage from Halloween Kills was unveiled today during Blumfest, a one-day online event focused on new and upcoming movie and TV projects from the Blumhouse production company.
The sequel to 2018’s Halloween, the successful, acclaimed reboot and follow-up to John Carpenter’s original 1978 classic, is bringing back several legacy characters from that movie, with the teaser giving us our first quick glimpses of three of them. Take a look and see if you can spot them!
At approximately :20 in the 36-second trailer, that is Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion Chambers, who was Dr. Sam Loomis’ assistant in the original Carpenter film and played the role in Halloween II (1981) and Halloween H20 (1998). Although the character died in the latter film, the current Halloween movies pretty much ignore or retcon everything that happened in the sequels, so Marion is back!
Next up at :23 is Kyle Richards, best known...

Blumhouse and Universal’s “The Hunt” will get released next month, on March 13, after the film was shelved last August following mass shootings in Dayton, Ohio and El Paso, Texas.
The studio also released a new trailer for the film on Tuesday. The trailer opens with people waking up gagged in a field, with access to weapons. Little do they know that they will soon be hunted by the liberal elites.
However, the movie faced a lot of backlash in August when many people believed it was about liberals hunting republicans in the Trump era. The new trailer suggests that people jumped the gun and judged a movie without having seen it, and that it might be completely different than what we all expected. And it all started with a dark internet conspiracy.

Universal Pictures has canceled plans to release the Blumhouse thriller “The Hunt” following the mass shootings last month in El Paso and Dayton.
“While Universal Pictures had already paused the marketing campaign for ‘The Hunt,’ after thoughtful consideration, the studio has decided to cancel our plans to release the film,” the statement, posted on the film’s website, read. “We stand by our filmmakers and will continue to distribute films in partnership with bold and visionary creators, like those associated with this satirical social thriller, but we understand that now is not the right time to release the film.”
Additionally, an individual with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap, “This was a decision that the studio came to with ‘The Hunt’ filmmaking team. It was a tough call for the company, but studio leadership, led by Donna Langley, agreed that this film could wait.”

Universal has temporarily halted the marketing campaign for next month’s Blumhouse horror film “The Hunt” following the mass shootings last weekend in El Paso and Dayton.
“Out of sensitivity to the attention on the country’s recent shooting tragedies, Universal Pictures and the filmmakers of ‘The Hunt’ have temporarily paused its marketing campaign and are reviewing materials as we move forward,” a studio rep said in a statement sent to TheWrap.
Playing on political divides in the Trump era, “The Hunt” follows 12 conservatives who discover they have been kidnapped and brought to The Manor, a hunting ground where liberal billionaires pay top dollar to hunt them for sport. Hilary Swank plays the founder of The Manor, while Betty Gilpin plays the leader of the hunted as they fight back against their would-be killers.
A trailer for the film, which shows a gunfight in an open field and Gilpin’s character killing two of the Manor’s patrons with a shotgun, was released on July 30. An ad that was set to air on ESPN over the weekend was pulled after an attack on a Walmart in El Paso that killed 22 people.
Over the years, films have had their marketing adjusted following major tragedies. One of the most famous was a withdrawn trailer for Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man,” which featured Spider-Man slinging up a helicopter with bank robbers between the towers of the World Trade Center. The trailer was removed following the September 11 attacks.
“The Hunt” is still set for release on September 27.
