Do you believe in evil?

Warning: Spoilers
I am not sure why I watched this after 10 minutes. The Amazon description of the film is pretty much is the entire plot except for the playing of the Star Spangled Banner at the end. We don't learn much about the man, not even his name until the film is well over half over. Jeffrey Goodrich plays a man who is near the end of his life. We discover he was a town cop, a shaman, and likes to burn candles while having dinner with the rotting corpse of his wife. Things don't start to happen until about a half hour into the film when our WTF am I watching becomes really bizarre.

This is a concept film. It is not designed to be overly entertaining but to make a statement about a topic most of us don't care to deal with. It is slow and nostalgic by design. It is not for everyone. Now sometimes you can look at a film and know, this is not what the director wanted. However in this case I believe this is exactly what the director wanted. It was good for what it was, but entertaining was not part of it.

Guide: No swearing, sex or nudity.

The writer tried to be clever and cutting edge here with a unique way to portray the horrors of police public service...it didn't work

And Hell Awaits (2016) is currently available on Tubi. The storyline follows a police officer who suffers PTSD from the events he's has seen in his line of work. As they haunt him he will try cults, magic and hypnosis to overcome his visions and frustrations. This movie is directed by Daniel Falicki (All About Joe) and stars Sheri Beth Dusek (Driftless) and Jeffrey Goodrich (Impact). The storyline for this may require both PTSD and LSD to follow. The opening scene was way too dragged out and awkward. The acting is actually pretty good even if the storyline is awful. The cast really did a good job for the writing being as poor as it was. The writer tried to be clever and cutting edge here with a unique way to portray the horrors of police public service...but it didn't work. I'd score this a 2/10.
