Way too staged

It is a very frustrating series. The concept is interesting, showing people their ancestors through DNA. Not immediate ancestry like Finding Your Roots, but far beyond that, tens of thousands of years before. Unfortunately, they scripted this as three people traveling through the countries of their ancestors apparently guided by the progressive discoveries the genetic scientist shown in the show is making. But we're not stupid. We know how DNA works. You get the sequence from your chromosomes, and you IMMEDIATELY know everything. Yet in this show, again and again, they feel the need to show the scientist behind his computer and to say "new results have come up now about...". No, results have been in since the beginning for crying out loud... That's the issue here, it's way too dumbed down, they repeat themselves constantly, the scientist has to be told to say stuff like "oh we've just discovered that you have viking roots". No you haven't, you've known since the beginning... And the survey on Australians is barely mentioned. What do these people think of their ancestry ? We don't know. What's the point then ? Only the 3 celebrities get to react about their ancestry ? The others stay silent faces ? That's a disappointment. It doesn't cost much to interview a few... From the people who brought us the amazing "The First Australians" I expected more than this.
