Inborn pair review
misswritercreates7 March 2019
Enjoyed this show! It was really good. My only issue was it's on the long side. Especially with the couple, it just took forever. I think it could've been shortened to 40 episodes probably. It got tiresome towards the middle when you thought "this is it, they're together!" But then it's like no, no they're not. Ughh kinda annoying but the endings worth it for sure. So if you have Time and enjoy drama nevertheless, you'll probably enjoy this one. It's really good, I did like it and the actors and the storyline. It's really good, seriously. :)

Enjoyable but flawed
talonjensen6 October 2018
I review this based on a comparison with other Asian dramas.

If you like drama/romances where both main characters are immature and innocent, this should appeal to you. It starts off with instant conflict and, as most Asian dramas, the drama comes and goes without really being totally resolved until the last episode or two. The story revolves around three main couples who are related to each other. One rich family who owns a resort/hotel/zoo and the romances of the daughter and two sons.

I do have a few issues with the production values. The audio is horrible, sometimes the music is louder than the voices and in one scene a car is driving on what must be a cobblestone street where not only does the audio bounce but the video as well.

The other thing that bothered me was the business decisions. Even in Asia it makes no sense to have the legal department punish an employee when they make a mistake, especially before the business loss is actual. In most of the companies I've worked for, mistakes are expected and you learn from them. Getting the legal department involved is idiotic, as well as firing an employee just because of a mistake. Pure lunacy from a management point-of-view.

Overall, worth watching, there is good chemistry between the characters. And, it does have some funny moments, many from when a gangster boss' daughter gets involved with the playboy son. This can be watched by younger viewers with only a few allusions to sexual situations and mostly threatened rather than actual violence. The English subtitles are better than average, but not always accurately translated. Just don't expect U. S. production values.

Enjoyable at times but way too long

Enjoyable at times but way too long, All the young actrices are gorgeous. Love Annie Chen. I find the main couple's behavior because for over half the show, they are in love and nothing happent between them. You will have to fast forward quite a bit!

A little long but worth the time
MsResponsible13 May 2021
I remember watching this series years ago and when I saw it on Netflix, I had to watch it again. I agree with other reviewers about the series being a little too long but that tends to happen when a show is doing well in the ratings. This series made me laugh so much. The arranged marriage scenario was common in Asian families a couple of generations ago and still exists today but not as common. Maybe it's because I'm Chinese, so I understand why Song Yi Jie and Ke Wei Xiang would agree to get married and the humor of their situation, but I don't think you have to be Chinese or some other Asian ethnicity to find this series funny. The main characters are well developed. I loved watching the relationship between Wei Xiang and Yi Jie grow organically. The funniest moments are Wei Xiang's attempts to tell Yi Jie that he loves her and the family dynamics/relationships. The brother, Wei Cheng, is such a lovable jerk. I took off one star because of the unnecessary length of this show. They stretched it out a little too long.

Expose Luo Yun
debraingram13 March 2022
Why was Luo Yun not exposed for all of underhanded dealings and why did Dongyang who was upright with his dealings Yijie until he was lured into it by Luo Yun. Her father should have known the reason he slapped her into sense.

An unlikely pair
elbehar5 March 2024
Twists and turns and back again over and over again.

I started this drama at least 4 times before really sitting down and watch further than two episodes.

Actors ***** Action *** Imtrigue **** Villains **** Romance ***** Sidekicks *** Jealoous Shrew ***** Nagging Parents ***** Annoying Grandmother ***** Comedy *****

From the moment they meet they absolutely hate each other. But as we all know there's always a fine line between love and hate. Little did they know that his grandmother has a mind of her own and will not stop until she gets what she wants. A grandchild.

Reluctantly and sure they would never find true love, they agree to the arranged marriage. Through the bickering and the over nagging familly they make their way as a couple.

Will they finally find love together or will they make their seperate ways?

Messed up characters
nikhil-barjatya12 April 2022
I am about half-way through the series, and have liked some of the episodes. But there are times when I am really irritated and disgusted by two characters: the main female lead (YiJie) and the Grandma Ke.

The female lead is probably the worst girlfriend/wife characters I have seen. Continously blaming WeiXiang for all of HER mistakes, making him apologize, constantly needing his affection but not returning anything back. The moment he shows any love for her, she pushes him back with contempt. Such a brazenly selfish character. She actually makes the female antagonist (Yun Luo) look good!

And the second one is the Grandma. Hopelessly selfish. Will continously lie for her own wishes but morally degrade others if they do the slightest thing that's not to her liking. I can't even stand any of her scenes. I just fast-forward.

Most other characters are a lot better.

Family Values Love, Life Work Struggles
susuj-435346 April 2022
Really loved this series especially the Life and Love struggles of the betrothed characters by Annie Chen ( Yi-Jie) and Chris Wang ( Wei Xiang) They both struggle with Love Trust Feelings and Marriage previous relationship hurt and the lack of relationship experience. Through obligation and duty to family the marriage developers their bond to grow and love.

Family always supporting although sometimes got too involved being judgmental. However the Family Values of love and support is strong a feel good story of Family

Although long with many episodes Loved every episode watched the series twice. After finished the first watch started over and watched again. Plan on watching again a third time Realized as watching that there were many words I was familiar with and understood having taken only 2 years to learn Mandarin and Found that this series was helpful and great to further learn listening to the Mandarin language.

Let me start off by saying this, I don't hate the show. More than anything, I am appalled by how badly written some characters are (like Song Yijie) and how badly written some of the storylines are. To be honest, I don't even know if it's good or bad acting that makes me dislike Song Yijie in particular! What I do know is that Song Yijie enters a fake marriage with terms and conditions for Grandma Ke's sake with Ke Weixiang. Knowing and witnessing Ke Weixiang's good traits on numerous occasions, Song Yijie consistently tries to paint Ke Weixiang in a bad light through making wrongful accusations and not properly communicating with him. Even though their marriage is fake, she has a hard time grasping that important detail and uses her title whenever it becomes convenient for her for the sake of jealousy and selfishness which, in turn, negatively affects Ke Weixiang's personal/work life. I know that Song Yijie is supposed to come off as spoiled and loud and a bit uncouth but she goes over the top and has a real diva attitude that is hard to watch. I feel sorry for the main male lead because he's always apologizing when it's usually NOT his fault! Not to mention, I don't even want to get started on how messed up Grandma Ke is!

Really really dumb
judibcats22 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Want to watch vicious women, deceitful controlling parent andmrn that don't act like men, this is for you. If the writers and producers want the rest of the world to think this is what Asian people are like they are doing a great job because no matter the serious drama or silly, every Asian show is true to form. Could not even watch all of this.

Chris Wang needs to do better or find another profession
kt_8217 August 2020
I agree with most of the other reviews that this series was too long. All the female actresses were good as well as the performance by the idiotic brother. The series would have been much better if they cast someone other than Chris Wang. That guy needs to work on his acting. Whenever an issue happened in the story he would make that stupid, "I don't know/confused look." After seeing that expression every other scene it's hard to root for the guy. After awhile it just looked like he had to take a dump in the middle of the scene. The writing for Chris Wang's character could have been better too. It was hard to watch one of the main characters be a confused fool the entire show and then be happy for him at the end.
