Ronnie Ortiz-Magro first experienced fame in 2009 when the original Jersey Shore reality TV show swept the nation.
The chosen cast members living in a shared house in Seaside Heights introduced fans to the Gtl lifestyle that is now engrained in pop culture history.
MTV hit the nail on the head with the entertainment from Jersey Shore.
It was raunchy, "ratchet," and full of drama.
It turned away from the classy mold of a high-end reality series and focused on a group of Guido friends that captivated its audience.
Without a doubt, it had its questionable content.
Ronnie, even then, was a toxic person, and his off-again-on-again relationship with Sammi undoubtedly displayed that.
Beyond that, the way cast members thought of women, the unhealthy binge drinking and tanning, and physical fighting were just some of the controversial moments in the show.
Locals were infuriated, especially Italian ones, because it did change...

Actor Tye Sheridan spoke about his experience on the set of the drama Asphalt City in his new uInterview.
Asphalt City centers around a young paramedic (Sheridan), who is assigned the night shift with a seasoned New York City veteran (Sean Penn).
When asked how he was able to adapt his mindset to that of a medical worker, Sheridan told uInterview founder Erik Meers, “Paramedics are very unique. Really understanding from a technical standpoint how they operate, but also, what they experience on a day-to-day basis, on a more emotional, mental level as well, what are the things that they struggle with. I think was super crucial to us in understanding how to convey them in a really authentic light, and I think that was always the intention of the movie, to do something more authentic and something hyper-real.”
Sheridan continued, “We went on a lot of ride-alongside for years,...

Apple TV+ has ordered a series adaptation of the William Gibson novel “Neuromancer,” Variety has learned.
The 10-episode series hails from co-creators Graham Roland and Jd Dillard. Roland will also serve as showrunner, while Dillard will direct the pilot. Skydance Television will co-produce with Anonymous Content.
Per the official logline, the series “will follow a damaged, top-rung super-hacker named Case who is thrust into a web of digital espionage and high stakes crime with his partner Molly, a razor-girl assassin with mirrored eyes, aiming to pull a heist on a corporate dynasty with untold secrets.”
“We’re incredibly excited to be bringing this iconic property to Apple TV+,” said Roland and Dillard in a joint statement. “Since we became friends nearly ten years ago, we’ve looked for something to team up on, so this collaboration marks a dream come true. U.K. producers Evan Leighton-Davis and Ben Bond have launched a new financing fund, Heatseeker Media, a rolling finance facility to provide funding for independent film and TV producers.
Rare for these sorts of indie financing facilities, the London-based fund will provide development funding for producers, initially in the $100,000 to $1 million range for individual projects. Backing for the fund will come from a suite of private investors, mainly high-net-worth individuals, in the U.K., Europe and the U.S..
The first group of films to benefit from the fund include Romola Garai’s Monstrous Beauty, a period drama featuring The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey, which was a hot pre-sale title at the Cannes and AFM markets last year; the horror film The Severed Sun from director Dean Puckett starring Emma Appleton of The Witcher; and Ita Fitzgerald’s Irish drama West the Road featuring Imelda Staunton. Before Daniel Johnston tragically died in 2019, he got to see one of his dreams come true: Playing the Big Apple. His estate has partnered with the label Shimmy-Disc to release Daniel Johnston Alive in New York City, a circa-2000 live album that marks the first official vinyl release of the iconic singer-songwriter performing in the US. It’ll be released in full on January 14th, 2024, while you can watch a clip of Johnston’s “Silly Love” performance below.
While the exact date is unknown, Shimmy-Disc founder Mark Kramer estimates the recordings were taken sometime in April 2000, after he dug them up 20 years later. Along with plenty of Johnston’s beloved originals — including two tracks that haven’t appeared on any of his other releases — he also pays homage to Paul McCartney with heartwarming covers of “Live and Let Die” and “You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away.” What’s more,...

DC’s “The Flash” is set to stream on Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max starting Aug. 25.
The first-ever standalone feature film for Barry Allen, which stars Ezra Miller and is directed by Andy Muschetti, follows the titular superhero as he uses his powers to travel back in time to change the events of the past.
But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to. That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for.
The streaming announcement comes as the film was a commercial disappointment when it hit theaters back in May. It grossed $108 million domestically and just $268 million worldwide.

Of all of the young actors to break through thanks to the success of "Stranger Things," Sadie Sink has had arguably one of the most interesting career trajectories. Sink got her start on Broadway playing the titular role of "Annie," and had a handful of TV appearances on shows like "The Americans" and "Blue Bloods" before nabbing a main role in "American Odyssey." Unfortunately, that show only lasted one season, canceled by NBC only two days after the season finale. When Sink was cast as Max Mayfield on "Stranger Things" in season 2, she immediately became a fan favorite. Max has become the bleeding heart of the series, and her popularity even prevented show creators, The Duffer Brothers, from killing off the character in season 4 as originally planned.
Following "Stranger Things," Sink has continued to thrive by starring in "Fear Street: 1978," Taylor Swift's short film, "All Too Well," Darren Aronofsky's "The Whale,...

There once was a moment when playing the villain in a Batman movie was a status symbol in Hollywood. Jack Nicholson famously was paid in the ballpark of $80 to $90 million after his back-end deal to do the original Batman movie of 1989; Jim Carrey was officially marked as an A-lister when he got cast as the Riddler opposite Tommy Lee Jones, who was fresh off his Oscar win for The Fugitive (1993), in Batman Forever (1995); and Pulp Fiction’s Uma Thurman beat out Julia Roberts at the peak of her America’s Sweetheart superstardom to be Poison Ivy to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mr. Freeze in Batman & Robin (1997).
That kind of glitzy—and what some might call stunt—casting came to an end with Batman Begins (2005). As the first hard reset of a popular movie franchise in the 21st century, this is the film that put “reboot” in the lexicon with Christian Bale assuming a brooding,...

Just shy of a decade ago, the DC-loving section of the internet lost its collective mind when it was revealed that Ben Affleck was going to be our new Batman, taking over the role just a year after Christian Bale wrapped up his run in "The Dark Knight Rises." Affleck's time as the superhero has been more than a bit rocky, kicking off with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" in 2016, but we don't need to go over that whole situation again. What's important is that Affleck is getting ready to hang it up for good following his appearance as Bruce Wayne in this summer's "The Flash." While DC fans of all sorts have feelings about that, it was an emotional experience for the actor.

Come what may when the movie actually, finally does hit theaters this summer, "The Flash" is, indeed, getting a release from Warner Bros. This film has been through it for years and years, with Ezra Miller's solo turn as Barry Allen originally pegged to be the first DC Universe entry to hit theaters after "Justice League." That didn't happen and, even after the movie managed to finish filming, troubles emerged, largely surrounding Miller's abundant off-screen antics. But for all of the issues away from the set, the filmmakers apparently had a great time working with the actor.
/Film's own Jenna Busch recently attended a screening of "The Flash," with director Andy Muschietti and producer Barbara Muschietti in attendance. They addressed working with Miller during production and painted a kind picture, describing them as brilliant and funny. Here's what Andy Muschietti had to say about it:
"Ezra is an extraordinary actor.

The opening credits of Jersey Shore featured taglines from each cast member that gave fans a glimpse of their personalities. Those taglines changed when Jersey Shore: Family Vacation came around, but the quotes still describe each roommate perfectly. With the return of Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, we’re speculating what her updated tagline will become. Will she recycle “I’m the sweetest b**** you’ll ever meet?” or will she have an updated motto like the rest of her roomies?

Now that Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola is returning to Jersey Shore, that can only mean one thing for Ronnie Ortiz-Magro. We’ve already addressed the likely reasons Sam chose now to make her return to reality TV. Here’s what we think Sam joining Jersey Shore: Family Vacation means for Ronnie, who hasn’t appeared in any new episodes of the MTV series.
Ronnie is unlikely to return to ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ now that Sam is around
While we can’t be certain, we can speculate that Ronnie won’t be part of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation anymore, at least for the rest of season 6. The second half of the MTV series is currently filming and with Sammi “Sweetheart” involved, Ronnie’s reappearance is highly unlikely.
Sam initially didn’t want to be part of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation when it started in 2018 because she wanted to “avoid potentially toxic situations.

“The sweetest b**** you’ll ever meet” is going to be part of reality TV again. Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola recently filmed with the cast of Jersey Shore: Family Vacation for the rest of season 6, which will air sometime in 2023. Now that the excitement around Sammi’s return has died down, many fans wonder why Sammi chose to return to Jersey Shore now. We have a few theories.
Sammi ‘Sweetheart’ Giancola, ‘Jersey Shore’ Season 3 | MTV 1. Ronnie Ortiz-Magro is done with ‘Jersey Shore: Family Vacation’ for good
Well, our speculation about Ronnie Ortiz-Magro returning to Jersey Shore before Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola was wrong. When Jersey Shore ended in 2012, Sam was still in an on-again-off-again relationship with Ronnie. Their toxic relationship played out on camera over the show’s six seasons and, though they weren’t together by the time Jersey Shore: Family Vacation started in 2018, Sam wasn’t interested in doing the reboot/spinoff with her ex.

Black Water is one of those rare instances where “based on true events” isn’t just a gratuitous tagline. The 2007 movie (later followed by an unrelated and more polished-looking sequel) is in fact inspired by an event from a few years earlier — near the Finniss River in the Northern Territory of Australia, two people were stranded in a tree after a massive predator killed their friend, then continued to stalk them. While that real-life account and this piece of fiction are substantially different in most respects, they both illustrate the terrifying unpredictability of “salties.”
After spending Christmas vacation with family, Black Water’s three main characters set off on a number of small adventures before returning to their humdrum lives. It’s only when sisters Lee and Grace and Grace’s husband Adam (Andy Rodoreda) go fishing in a mangrove do they encounter one of Australia’s most dangerous residents.

While talking to TheWrap about “Devotion,” his exceptional new naval aviation movie starring Jonathan Majors and Glen Powell, we brought up a few of the productions he has been linked to over the past few years, including “Star Wars.” Apparently none of them are “go” projects anymore.
About “Star Wars,” he said that it was “unfortunately no longer a thing.” “It was not for lack of trying,” Dillard explained. Not that he’s totally done with the idea of making a space movie. It’s just that this time, “it will be an original idea.”

A few decades after the first experiments with the new technology of film, cinema in the 1920s was beginning to come of age. Filmmakers mastered the essentials and embarked on ambitious storytelling projects with increased flair and sophistication, turning movies from novelty to art in just a few short years. The film industry began operating at full capacity in the 1920s, churning out feature-length productions on a scale and frequency that would have been unthinkable a decade earlier.
Filmmakers of the 1920s start to diversify, some becoming experts in the large-scale epics that were the earliest versions of blockbusters, while others honed a unique style as auteurs that would define the period as part of a larger artistic movement. Our first movie stars come from this era, both silent comedians whose death-defying pratfalls rival any stunts performed today as well as romantic matinee idols who had audiences eating out of the palm of their hands.

As recently reported, Marvel Studios has tweaked a good-sized chunk of its upcoming release schedule, shifting the release dates of five confirmed movies and taking one unannounced one off the calendar for now. The films that are moving include some biggies like Fantastic Four and Avengers: Secret Wars, but the whole thing – because any MCU moves tend to have a domino effect – seemed to start with the studio’s reboot of Blade being shot out of its November 2023 berth all the way to September 2024.
That was precipitated by the departure of director Bassim Tariq from the project, less than two months before production was scheduled to start, along with reports that the film’s screenplay needed quite a bit of work. Clearly Blade – which was first announced way back in July 2019 when star Mahershala Ali walked onstage wearing a hat bearing the movie’s title – is in a bit of a rough spot right now.

In 1998, the year Black Star made their debut, shameless commercial rappers were the culture’s equivalent to co-workers who heat up fish in the office microwave. They were guilty of an obvious if prevalent faux pas that probably felt too good to abandon just for propriety’s sake. But Mos Def and Talib Kweli captivated the underground with their Boogie Down Productions–sampling single, “Definition,” whose charming raggamuffin vibes felt refreshingly organic—something like a soul-clearing sage to purify the bad stench on the scene.

Spencer Tracy, Lana Turner and Ingrid Bergman in Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde (1941) will be available on Blu-ray May 17th from Warner Archive. It can be preordered at the Warner Archive Amazon Store
Laurence Olivier once observed that he “learned more about acting from watching [Spencer] Tracy than in any other way.” Undertaking the dual title role in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Victorian science-fiction thriller, Tracy fulfilled that compliment by abandoning his characteristic down-to-earth image for the most terrifying portrayal of his career. Also cast “against type” are “Sweater Sweetheart” Lana Turner as Jekyll’s fiancée and Ingrid Bergman, who plays Hyde’s victimized Cockney mistress. Tracy and director Victor Fleming (Gone with the Wind) decided to break with convention by interpreting Hyde from a Freudian perspective instead of portraying him as the usual physically grotesque monster, and...
