Very well made and fun fan-film

Like many others, I watched this for a while before I realized it was a fan film and not something official. The popularity of the character thanks to the film is a lot to do with how quickly this has gone viral, but if it was a piece of garbage then it wouldn't have been as popular. The film succeeds by having pretty high production values, and getting the humor pretty much bang on. The lead actor sounds very much like Reynolds, and his delivery is in keeping with the character as per the main film.

The musical is well played out, and fits into the universe well with a silly violence and knowing humor. Some elements of the action reveal a limit in resources, but mostly it flows and moves well with plenty to amuse and entertain. Well worth a look if you enjoy the recent film, because this is a very good tribute.

Only worth seeing if you really love Deadpool

Warning: Spoilers
"Deadpool The Musical: Beauty and the Beast Gaston Parody" is a pretty long title for this relatively short film because the closing credits already run in before the 250-second mark and there's two more minutes of credits at the end and a little scene involving another very famous hero character. But first things first: The director here is American Julian Higgins and if you take a look at the gigantic amount of spoofs and blockbuster parodies her has made, then it says quite something that this is perhaps his most known work. Actually known well enough with millions of views on Youtube that they made a second Deadpool film last year. the writer is Paul Bianchi, also very prolific, but surprisingly most of all in the production design department. It is a fan film though, keep that in mind. You won't find Ryan Reynolds in here and most likely never have heard of any cast member. Except Deadpool you will find a trio of girl heroes like Black Widow that Deadpool constantly (unsuccessfully) tries to charm as well as Spider Man with a little Cameo and eventually Wolverine (who I found more interesting than Spidey this time). The rest is basically Deadpool beating up and shooting the bad guys (and girls also surprisingly). Maybe it would have helped to enjoy this one if it hadn't been ages for me since last time I watched Beauty and the Beast, but overall I think how much you appreciate this short will stand and fall with the approach you give Deadpool. Like him then, you you will like this one, the lyrics are admittedly not too bad and it feels pretty on par with the big movie(s) from that perspective in terms of style and comedy. But yeah, Deadpool is one of my least favorite superheroes, so I am not too big on this one for mostly subjective and personal reasons. Can't stand his arrogance. The only objective moment that did not fit was the big hole in his hand. Can't let him get away with this if it was nothing. All in all, for me personally this is a thumbs-down and negative recommendation. Nothing that will make you a fan of Deadpool if you weren't familiar with the character beforehand. And a fan.
