During the filming of this and The Beatles: Penny Lane (1967), John Lennon would visit a nearby antique shop. In this antique shop, it's where he would buy a poster for a circus show in the 1800's. The poster would later be the inspiration for the song "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!"
Lennon wrote the song in Almería, Spain, where he was filming a role in the anti-war comedy How I Won the War (1967).
The song was the first track recorded during the sessions for the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, starting in November 1966, and was intended for inclusion on the album.
In the United States, "Strawberry Fields Forever" peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100.
Lennon identified "Strawberry Fields Forever" as his highest achievement as a member of the Beatles.
