The idea of short circuiting anger dates back to the 1960's work of Jose Delgado. Delgado's work was the inspiration for the novel "The Terminal Man" by Michael Crichton. That novel appears to be the inspiration for this story.
This episode was directed by Levar Burton, who played Geordi Laforge the navigator on "Star Trek: The Next Generation." Daryl Mitchell played the "navigator" in "Galaxy Quest" a Star Trek parody.
Kelly Hu guest stars as Patton's ex-wife, Anna, a Doctor who's project dealt with mind control in military vets with PTSS. Kelly also played Yuriko Oyama "Lady Deathstrike", a mutant who was being used in a mind control experiment of a rogue general.
