Dr. Palmer is shown drawing blood from the corpse of the victim with a standard blood collection vial, this would not work on a dead body. Those vials only work with a functioning circulatory system that is pumping blood, the inside of the vial is a vacuum and as the heart beats it pushes blood through the needle and into the vial. When drawing blood from a corpse one must use a syringe with a plunger and use a suction force to pull the blood out of the vein. The only scenario where that vial would work would be if you hung the body upside down, then gravity would allow some of the blood to flow out of the neck and into the vial.
