"Love Life" is the second novel written by author Matt Shaw. It was originally written as a screenplay when he was fifteen years old. He adapted the story in his mid-twenties ahead of turning it into a novel.
In the original story, Kirk was an office postman where Kim (then called Vanessa) was one of the women who worked in the office. The story only become a client and a hooker years later when Shaw realized he needed the two characters to be "damaged" enough to want to be with one another despite the skeletons.
Rebecca Tarabocchia was initially hired for "A Nightmare On Elm Street: Up All Night". Matt Shaw was so impressed with her attitude on set (and her talent) that he showed her the script for "Love Life" whilst they were working. She read it, loved it and, on the same night, received a contract from Matt offering her the role of Kim.
Rebecca Tarabocchia and Matt Shaw worked together on "Nightmare On Elm Street: Up All Night". Matt was so impressed with Rebecca's performance, and passion, that he let her read the script for "Love Life" whilst they were on set. She read it that evening and loved the role of Kim. Before the night was over, she had signed a contract.
The screenplay won its first award in the Feel The Reel International Film Festival.
