Cinematic retro style oddity while predictable it somehow still made room for some twist and turns. Along the way some fairly extreme horror that you usually only find in the lowliest darkest corners of film and a bit of religious filth and rape for shock value. Darlene Perkins suffers a sickening rape by two sickos while watching her grandparents brutal execution. The female sidekick of the rapists blows the grandmothers head to pieces with a pretty savage shotgun blast that looked pretty convincing for a micro budget film as well as the throat slicing of the grandfather which looked too real to watch all the way and adds a darkness to the first act that is hard to shake. The shy and quiet nurse now topless revealing previously hidden massive breasts is shot and slips unconscious while the rapists make plans and stuff her body along with the grandparents into a closet to rot away while they party and fight among each other in the brain and blood splattered living room. Darlene escapes and goes to the nuthouse where she's harassed by another inmate to persue revenge but Darkens just wants to return to normal life and move on. Once released she begins work in a new hospital where the staff immediately begin to abuse her and the local priest helps himself to a handful of her behind when no one is looking. Darlene eventually encounters the same rapists undetected and returns to her friend in the nuthouse for help. From there she is sent on a wild mission by the demonic voice of Satan second hand man who tatoos and pentagram on her bare chest. She is sent to sacrifice her own blood to the grandparents grave, masturbate in a church, and accept the mark of the beast on her once again gratuitously exposed breasts. After this her demeanor changes and she begins picking off hospital staff as satan makes good on his promise and delivers the rapists to her in the hospital which she has now taken over. After a bit long second act the carnage begins again and this is where the film gets brutal. Castration, abortion, and good old fashion slasher hacking with insane amounts of blood and agony with some graphic religious filth tossed in for the "hell" of it. The revenge is sweet and satisfying as Darlene avenges her grandparents and herself before driving off into the mountain roads to classical music fully exercised and avenged before she has a chance of getting caught. While some of this is difficult to watch for various reasons mostly if your squeamish, the storyline plays out just too well and we get the ending we wanted so 8.5/10 and maybe higher for the grindhouse ghouls out there.

Amateur Effort

Absolutely unwatchable! The acting reminded me of the first week of a junior high school play read through. No continuity to the film. The locations they shot at were.incongruous from outside to indoors. There were too many mistakes to be able to list them here. Some were small, like the call letters (WHEC) of a television station in Washington state: all stations west of the Mississippi start with "K" to all the consumable products in blue and white labeling with only the contents printed, I.e. "beer", "california wine", "kentucky whiskey" (yes, California and Kentucky were in lower case) and a can labeled "food". The mental institution and "hospital"were hilarious. From the patient rooms to the staff. The only redeeming aspects were the lecherous priest and the gratuitous blood. It's 72 minutes of my life I'll never get back.

Eighties Glory Trash Cinema

At first it feels like a clumsey throwback that uses grit and grime to hide flaws of a low budget but eventually i realised a lot of interesting depth to the film and film makers style. Then I found myself replaying parts to see if I'm seeing what I think im seeing and the answer is a resounding YES quite a lot of hidden goodies in this almost as if the eighties plot is more of a ruse to hide all of the alternative meanings and sub plots. Is defiantly intended for a niche audience a little more retro than the kind of trash cinema I love but the violence and protagonist's redemption make up for the lack of humor I expected in this kind of film. There are some very gruesome and hard to keep eyes open moments in this if you have aversions to sexual mutilations or taboo subject matter like religious SA and nearly x rated content. The extreme nature is kind of camoflaged by fine cinematography and dramatic scenery. Every shot feels carefully composed to and gives a more professional feel than a typical grind house trash film all though some kind of effect was added to give the film a retro feel as well or an old camera was used. Admittedly jealous of the hell nurses boobs *heart* What I do not like about the movie is the priest character and some of the middle part could have been edited down. Some of the acting is not good but also fits to the movies style so Im on the fence of calling that out or giving the benifit of the doubt as intentional and appreciating the authenticness.

I cannot overlook the fact that this is a horror movie with a black female lead character, which may rub a lot of people wrong in the currant landscape of society but I really love seeing this and hope to see more companies following suit. Solid 8 for me and will be watching for a part 2 because this story doesnt feel like it's over.
