Self-aware, funny, and witty- highlight of the season!

I loved this episode, and it may very well be my favorite one of the half-season.

The Headmistress character with Hayley's voice was truly hilarious and her jokes about Steve's you-know-what were surprisingly funny. The whole set-up was different and hilarious!

It became even better within the last 10 minutes as Roger and Steve realized they were in a "spin-off" and had to escape from the set, which is by the way in Vancouver.

Loved this episode!

One of the best American Dad episodes in awhile.

I get that it will be polarizing, but if you are a fan of old-school TV and breaking the fourth wall about it, you will love this.

This was my favorite episode of K-On!

Warning: Spoilers
This anime stuck out again with our lovely Light Music Club performing in front of the whole school for a battle of the bands, until they decided to sabotage it! Of course, they end up winning the battle cause they were the only ones performing. Now Yui, Mio, Ritsu, and Tsumugi must escape before they end up in their own spin-off anime! I would give this episode a 10, but it was missing Azunyan (Azusa). Like where was she, did the writers just forget about her completely? Nonetheless, a great episode. Highly recommend cause I laughed harder than I should!

One of the single best American Dad episodes of all time! As well as possibly THE single best sitcom-parody ever too.

End of story 😊

American Dad usually does great with concept episodes and this one riffing on sitcom spin offs is hilarious.

I would actually like to see this American Dad spinoff. Maybe it would be more interesting than The Cleveland Show.

I like self-referential humor when it doesn't come off as annoying because the writers think they are cleverer than they really are. I think it worked in this one. Roger notices all the spinoff sitcom tropes happening around him and Steve, and even though Steve wants to be a big dog like Stan, which is why he goes here and become the first boy in an all-girl boarding school. However, Steve wants to get out of the spinoff and lose the band show, because he doesn't want to be separated from his family forever.

I still would have liked for Seth MacFarlane to do this American Dad spinoff as a "what-if" scenario for 2 seasons since Steve and Roger are still in American Dad. I would like to see what other episodes would be like if Steve stayed in the boarding school, and if Spitz and The Babe end up together or not.

Almost as bad as American Fung. I couldn't figure out what they were trying to do. What was the plot?

I love this episode. So nostalgic! I was a Saved by the Bell fan as well as Punky Brewster. I love all the refences to those shows and other shows out at around that time.

I think that the user rating should be higher for this episode but I guess if you are younger, the references don't really mean anything.

The series is pretty much hit and miss at this point, but at this point there are more hits than misses. I think this show is much better than Family Guy. The characters are better. The storylines are better. The writing is better as well.

I would have loved for this to have been a temporary for a few more episodes, but keeping it at one episode makes it that much more special. 10/10.

Please make Top of the Steve a spin-off
makaylam-172438 April 2020
I have never written a review before, and even had to make an account just to write this one, but it's worth it. This show was actually exceptionally well done. It's a funny and witty spin-off that breaks the fourth wall seamlessly. I would genuinely love to see this become its own show. Hence, going so far as to make an IMDb account to write this review in the hopes that someone will read this and make it happen. I love family guy and I love American dad but they have been going on for so long now, it would be nice to have something new and refreshing like this witty masterpiece.

Why do I even bother?

This season is terrible. All the new seasons are. This episode has the blandest comedy I've ever seen from an American Dad episode. I honestly think that when season 14 comes, I'm not gonna watch it.
