Unexpected gold of a movie.

I watched this with 0 expectations but was rewarded with a great watch.
Very relatable for expats abroad. A simple feel good movie. A honest attempt to make a movie and a lot of room for improvement especially in the sound department.

the mundane screenplay weakened everything

Swapnarajyam had all the elements to take us off on a great journey, regretfully, the mundane screenplay weakened everything
DELICIOUS
-Round of applause for the color grading of the scenes shot in Kerala, it was just stunning😃 Beautiful accents on the landscape and overall environment
-Successful work executed on the sound effects!
-The eagle and the fly symbolism was an adequate illustration of the plight of immigrants seeking greener pastures.
As diasporans, we immediately identified with Chris's journey to a foreign land, his challenge to adjust to a new environment, and the need to become 'someone' in life. It was as if we were reliving these experiences with him
BLAND
-Acting was sadly plain to the point that many dialogues delivered were not credible
-Several scenes were too sudden and questionable, e.g. Chris, struggling financially, got a UK visa in a heartbeat. Then, he was able to recognize his long-lost childhood friend in a single moment🤔
-The cinematography quality wasn't consistent throughout the movie, many times the camera wasn't well-controlled
-The storytelling failed to be fluid as it was hard to follow the chain of events. Don't know if we missed it but the introductory farming scene with the Portuguese man didn't add anything to the film.
The plot had lots of coincidences and later took an ordinary turn that we obviously guessed the ending...

Land of dreams ..

The dollar/pound dream has always been on the minds of Indian youth and this has been captured aptly in the movie. The dilema of the Indian parent who never gives up on their children is mentioned subtly but is a prominent take away.
The strength of friendships and community bonding when far away from home has been captured well. The helpful streak in Krishnankutty aka Kris is humane, but as a viewer we would want Kris to speak for himself .The reference to spoken English in technical n professional courses does mirror the reality of the communication issues the graduates face .The course on English does exist in the syllabus of various universities though not dealt with!
A few logical links had to be taken care of and a little caution as atleast a few viewers could get a wee bit confused in the flow of narration.
The camera has done absolute justice filming the song sequence and has absorbed the perfect look on Kris' face on hearing Varsha's bro villi!
A good watch!
