Not bad but unsophisticated

It's a worthwhile topic this episode addresses, and the message is welcome, but it's very straightforward. Much as you expect from Zombie Simpsons. I might have laughed once. I just finished watching and I don't even remember.

They're desperate for guest stars

Episode was ok, not the best. Seeing the view of Springfield from heavens point of view, but I feel they're just getting more actors to portray themselves (or Bob's burgers) I would say, ok but I feel it's time for this show to end

Not as good as it could be. So few things. Why now at each episode someone has to sing? I hate it so much...Lisa looks like a poor boy? She looks as a girl but with dark clothes... Didn't get it. And about the religions maybe it's good but again where is Islam why it's not included because of terrorists? They shouldn't try to promote something if they don't thing about everything.

Worst episode ever...

Finally season 30 has started and I was ecstatic, the series started off very strong but took an absolute nose dive when it came to episode 3. After over 2 decades of watching the show this is by far the most lacking episode, there was no good story line, no good jokes and it was just purely a lazy episode. This episode pandered to the simplest of audiences, with over 600 episodes of the Simpsons not doing a fully religious episode this seemed to be a recruitment for Christianity. Throughout the 30 seasons religion has been a big part of life in Springfield but this episode was just absolutely horrendous.

Generally entertaining

With the exception of the third segment, the jokes in this were pretty good. Also, great couch gag.

The vignettes are pretty fun with a more optimistic St. Peter and more pessimistic God bantering. The first segment, a flashback, is a nice relief because it doesn't conflict with continuity like many recent episodes of this type have.

Third segment seemed a little risky seeing how they had white characters playing Indian people. This is a second episode in a row where they have had a lousy musical number. The show has really lost its touch there. Doesn't help that Yeardley Smith was a weak singer.

Watch the couch gag, but turn it off immediately after

A laugh out loud moment to start with at the Bob's Burgers reference, but it quickly went downhill. The star rating refers to this.

A Ned backstory? They already gave him (a much better one) many years prior. This episode seemed totally unnecessary. The episode POV from God and St Peter was preachy and boring as hell. Do they really need so many "church" episodes?

One redeeming feature was Moe kissing the fish. That gave me a chuckle. Although I was trying to work out if it was a (very outdated) parody of Inglorious Basterds? 10 years late and barely amusing.

Great Episode.

I really enjoyed this epsiode and thought it was a good examination of different beliefs on what happens after we die. The comedy was solid, especially the whole WWII story and I also think this was good timing for a crossover with bob's burgers! A definite recommend.

Cancel the show already. It's just sad... Now The Simpsons has a religious agenda? Give up.

Worst episode ever!!!

I've seen every episode of the Simpsons and this is one of the poorest efforts I can remember. A completely ridiculous premise for an anthology episode. I think maybe its time for the Springfield gang to wrap it up.

Uninteresting

Nothing in this Simpsons episode was funny to me and I usually like the show. Making God a main character was really poor judgment.

Hilarious. Great writing... I've been watching the Simpson's since "The Tracey Ulman Show". In my opinion this is a great episode. I give it a 9/10. Enjoy!

From mental fantasy to copying Family Guy
santifersan14 March 2023
"My Way or the Highway to Heaven" fails to deliver an engaging plot despite its interesting concept of God deciding who gets into Heaven. In early seasons of The Simpsons, God was only a mental fantasy. Nowadays, the show's treatment of God as a cartoonish character, akin to Family Guy, is a departure from earlier depictions. The story of the Buddhist princess is tedious, and the reductionist comments on historical events are cringe-worthy at times. While the idea of exploring why certain people might not make it into Heaven is intriguing, the execution falls short. Overall, this episode is a lackluster addition to the series.
