In the game, according to the original French Cryo site, each civilization has its distinct soundscape, created by five composers. Dark and oppressive music characterizes the Lemurs. The Sand People live in a calmer, more oriental atmosphere, evoked by Olivier Louvel and Benoît De Mesmay, musicians of the Barbès National Orchestra (which specializes in music from the Maghreb) and of the National Jazz Orchestra respectively. The monastery of the Shekandar, on the other hand, is noisy, as the roar of turbines alternates with the sacred atmosphere of electronic organ music. Gilles Sivilotto created the musical themes for emblematic characters, such as the Sirens and the Tetradon, places with strong dramatic resonance, and for the introductory and concluding cutscenes. Thierry Cote and Thierry Prost composed most of the themes related to the Shekandar and the Lemurs. Cote created Khronos' signature tune, and that of the rebel camp, while Prost handled the themes of the cave of the Lemurs and the Organ Room.
