The making of the film took 7 years and was marred by controversy. Throughout the process the film got shelved numerous times and delayed due to the following unforeseen circumstances: Stephen's arrest for drunkenly attacking police officers (charges were dropped), Stephen getting jumped and stabbed on the bus during the editing phase, the original editor ended up hospitalized after a night of partying, multiple relapses from former and present members of the production team, various trips from Stephen to the psych ward, a rejection from over 50 festivals throughout the 7 years, and Stephen McCoy overdosing several times during the process of the actual filming.
This film is composed entirely of Hi8/Mini-DV camcorder tapes filmed in Boston/Chicago from 2010-2016.
Many people in the film have died since it's completion.
There are five drastically different cuts of the film over the span of its 7 year production. They vary in length, style, and some original edits contain voice over tracks.
Stephen faced 5 years in prison during the editing phase of the film for a confrontation with police officers. Despite warnings from the court, he fled Massachusetts to start the editing process in Los Angeles. All charges were eventually dropped.
