Jonathan Bailey was so blown away by “Heartstopper” that he just knew he had to be on the show.
“Like so many people, I watched the first [season] and thought it was one of the biggest, most beautiful gifts to so many people, and I wish I had that growing up,” the “Fellow Travelers” and “Bridgerton” star told me at the Met Gala Monday night.
It was announced in late April that Bailey will make a cameo appearance as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous classicist and celebrity crush of Charlie (Joe Locke). “I had a mutual friend who knows [executive producer Patrick Walters] and I just said, ‘If there’s anything I could do to help and be a part of that story,’” Bailey recalled.
He said that the series, based on Alice Oseman’s graphic novel series of the same name, “really has changed the way people could grow and communicate around who they are.

Not knowing who's going to be next to have their love story adapted into the show is part of the Bridgerton intrigue at this point. Ever since the show's creators took a turn and left the order of Julia Quinn's original novel series, fans have been wondering what else Netflix might want to change.
With season 3 focusing on the love story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, fans don't expect any other siblings to get as much attention. However, the newly-cast Francesca Bridgerton will have a moment or two for herself to get a proper introduction to the audience. Too bad the love story is already spoiled.
Who Will Play John Stirling in Bridgerton?
Although most viewers doubt that Francesca will be a major character in season 4, the show has already cast her first romantic interest. According to the books, Francesca marries in the very first year at the...

Tonight on CBS’ FBI, viewers will be made privy to a “darker” aspect of Special Agent Omar Adom “Oa” Zidan’s past.
In the season’s antepenultimate episode, “No One Left Behind,” Jubal’s team is thrown into a highly political case after four members of the Taliban are shot and one is kidnapped in New York — with no record of them ever entering the country. Having served in the U.S. Army, the case will hit very close to home for Oa (played by original cast member Zeeko Zaki), who in turn struggles to open up to Gemma (guest star...

There is plenty to look forward to in Bridgerton’s upcoming Season 3 — debuting Part 1 Thursday, May 16 on Netflix — including wallflower Penelope Featherington finally stepping out as the show’s romantic leading lady.
“I love her knowing that she is an amazing writer. I love her finding the worth in herself and allowing herself to feel desirable and know that she is,” portrayer Nicola Coughlan tells TVLine. “I think that kind of stuff makes her attractive.”

Unfortunately for fans of the fantasy genre, Netflix has never been the network you can trust to keep shows in the genre going. After the huge backlash the platform received for canceling Shadow and Bone, one would think their methods would have changed, but fans of the newly released series aren't so sure.
As ironic as it is, news of Netflix's acquisition of the Dead Boy Detectives TV series from HBO Max broke the same day the cancellation of Lockwood & Co. was announced. And as much as fans of the DC characters would like to believe they won't suffer the same fate, it's hard not to draw parallels.
Is Dead Boy Detectives Renewed for Season 2?

The ton is ready to dive into yet another debutante season. Bridgerton Season 3 is almost here, and the excitement is palpable. Fans have been waiting for the romance brew between Penelope and Colin Bridgerton since season 1. Mainly to see what Penelope is up to after the significant reveal that *spoiler alert* she was Lady Whistledown. In the aftermath of Season 2’s finale, where Eloise finally finds out about her identity, there is a lot at stack here for this wallflower. But we guess certain things become too real when you play a character for a long time because Nicola Coughlan might have just given away a major spoiler from Bridgerton Season 3 to fans. Here’s why!

Penelope and Colin’s relationship blooms in Season 3.
Nicola Coughlan knows you’ve swooned over every sneaky peek of Bridgerton Season 3 ahead of its May 16 premiere. The moment her character, Penelope Featherington, confronts longtime crush Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) about a Season 2 slight? The passion. The time they hop into a carriage together? A winking nod to one of Penelope and Colin’s steamiest scenes in the Bridgerton books. And then there was the video of Polin, as they’ve been dubbed by fans, sharing longing stares in the Bridgertons’ drawing room…
“Luke and I love that clip. But it’s not even in our top five Polin scenes,” Coughlan tells Tudum on a cloudy day in London. “If fans love that, they’re going to lose their minds over Season 3.”

Outside of "strike first, strike hard, no mercy," the Cobra Kai dojo's enduring motto is "Cobra Kai never dies!" That may be true, but the show that brought the Karate Kid story successfully to small screens is ending. We've known since earlier this year that Cobra Kai would be wrapping up, and now Netflix has released a teaser for what promises to be an epic, three-chunk finale stretching across this year and into next. Check it out…
Yes, as with some of the streaming service's other big hits, the final run will, like a karate master breaking boards, be split in three, with the first part landing on 18 July, the second arriving on 28 November and the third on an unspecified date in 2025. And given that the expanded farewell season features 15 episodes, we'd guess five episodes per chunk (but there's no word on that).
And while the teaser doesn't offer much in the way of plot,...

The book, published in February, follows 19-year-old Abbey Bly, who jumps at the chance to study abroad in London in order to get some distance from her overbearing retired rock star father. The rights were acquired in a competitive situation.
According to its plot description, Abbey is “ready to be free, to discover herself – but first off, to meet the girls she’s rooming with. That is, until she arrives at her gorgeous new flat to discover those roommates are actually all boys. Charming, funny, insufferably attractive boys. And off-limits, with a rule against fraternizing between housemates after unwanted drama with the previous girl. Abbey has never considered herself a rulebreaker. Get in a fighting stance, "Cobra Kai" fans: Netflix's most unlikely hit series is about to go out with a three-hit Ko. The popular "Karate Kid" sequel series will bow out with its sixth and final season this summer as planned, but the streamer has just announced that the last chapter will actually be an extended three-part streaming event.
In keeping with Netflix's recent trend of experimenting with different release strategies, "Cobra Kai" will end with three five-episode drops that begin in July and won't end until next year. The first five episodes are due out over the summer, while the second installment is expected in November (with the third premiering on an as-yet-announced date in 2025).
Though another major Netflix show, "Stranger Things," previously had a bifurcated season due to special effects-heavy sequences that needed to cook a bit longer, shows like "Ozark" and "Bridgerton" have also tried the multi-pronged release model.

And you thought waiting for the back half of a “Stranger Things” season was agonizing. Netflix is splitting the final season of “Cobra Kai,” Season 6, into three parts.
You read that right. Though it has become commonplace for Netflix to divide new seasons of its biggest hits into two parts, this is the first time the streamer has split a season (of any series) into thirds. The next-up example of a hit Netflix original being halved is mere weeks away. The eight-episode “Bridgerton” Season 3 will premiere the first four on May 16 and the back half on June 13.
“Cobra Kai” Season 6, Part 1 premieres on July 18, 2024; Part 2 premieres November 28, 2024; and finally, Part 3 (dubbed “The Finale Event”) will have to wait for 2025. We do not yet have a specific date for the final one-third.

Luke Newton is doing his homework in how to be a Bridgerton leading man.
Before season 3 — which will see his character, Colin Bridgerton, become the lover of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) — Newton sought out his leading man predecessors, Regé-Jean Page and Jonathan Bailey, for advice.
Speaking to InStyle, Newton said that Page, who played the series’ first leading man, Simon, the Duke of Hastings, told him to go on a “big holiday before all the madness starts.”
“[Page] sort of grabbed me, gave me a big hug and was like, ‘Are you ready for this, bro?’” Newton said. Page departed Bridgerton following season 1 and has never reprised his role as Simon, husband to Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).
Bailey had a different path. He became a mainstay and led season 2, which saw him fall in love with Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley). Newton told the outlet that Bailey has “been there kind of the whole way for me.

It’s hard to believe that it’s already May 2024, especially on the TV front. We have standing weekly appointments with “The Sympathizer” and “Under the Bridge,” are still reeling from “Baby Reindeer,” and still can’t get enough of Kristen Wiig in “Palm Royale” — but there’s a whole new crop of May shows about to debut that deserve the audience’s dutiful attention.
May brings some big names back to TV, including Sean Bean with Hulu’s “Shardlake,” Jeff Daniels with Netflix’s “Man in Full,” and Benedict Cumberbatch with “Eric.” Joel Edgerton headlines Apple’s twisted thriller about a man unmoored from reality in “Dark Matter,” while André Holland plays Black Panther party founder Huey P. Newton in “The Big Cigar.” Many new shows are based on novels or articles, and on the reality front there’s “Love Undercover” — about soccer stars searching for romance; on the documentary side “Pillowcase Murders,...

Penelope Featherington and Colin Bridgerton entering into a unique arrangement, J.Lo fighting evil artificial intelligence, the roasting of an NFL legend, a retelling of the invention of the Pop Tart, Brooke Shields and Benjamin Bratt at war and John Mulaney’s six-night live comedy event from Los Angeles are some of the big titles hitting Netflix in May.
Debuting on May 3 is Jerry Seinfeld’s directorial debut, Unfrosted. The comedy legend works both sides of the camera for this humorous feature take on the birth of the Pop Tart. The movie is set in 1963 as breakfast cereal giants Kellogg’s and Post compete to become the first company to create a morning pastry. Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan and Amy Schumer also star, with Hugh Grant more than likely to steal the whole film with a turn as Tony the Tiger.

As summer approaches (for the Northern Hemisphere at least), Netflix is set to premiere a fresh season of one of its biggest hits.
Brigerton season 3 is set to arrive on May 16 and will debut a “new crop of debutantes” into the regency drama fray. Other original series of note this month include Indian drama Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar (May 1), the Jeff Daniels-starring A Man in Full (May 2), and intriguing Korean title The 8 Show (May 17). Of course, Netflix is also rolling out a suite of true crime docs and docuseries as well. Chief among those options is Ashley Madison: Sex, Lies & Scandal on May 15.
It’s the movie side of things where Netflix is feeling particularly lively though. May 3 sees the arrival of Jerry Seinfeld Pop Tart comedy Unfrosted. That will be followed by rom-com Mother of the Bride (May 9) and the Jennifer Lopez-starring Atlas (May 24).

It’s been nearly a year since Netflix stopped offering the Basic plan to new customers, but existing users could still access it.
The takeover of Netflix’s Standard with Ads plan is continuing. One report in April suggested that the streamer had 7 million customers on the tier in the United States and Canada alone, and Netflix has made plenty of moves to try and enhance the plan’s attractiveness in the eyes of customers since its November 2022 launch. The streamer has already sunset its cheapest ad-free plan for new subscribers, but existing customers of the Basic plan have been allowed to keep it until now. A new report from Streaming Better indicates that Netflix has been warning some subscribers that they are about to lose access to their Basic plan, as the streamer tries to get as many viewers to opt for the ad-supported option as possible.

Not long ago, Netflix released the trailer for Season 3, and Polin fans are already obsessing over the transformation of their favorite characters.
It's all thanks to the costume, makeup and hair designers, who went all out with color theory to show how much both Mr. Bridgerton and Ms. Featherington have grown since last season.
Colin and Penelope's Season 3 Transformation
On April 11, 2024, a brand new trailer was released, the details of which can tell us a lot about the production quality of the new episodes. And of course, the main magnets of the new trailer are Colin (Luke Newton) and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan).
'In Seasons 1 and 2, we emphasized all the rounds, so his hair was quite round. His costume also had a lot of frills, so we didn't see his square jawline,' Erika Ökvist, the show's Emmy Award-winning hair and makeup designer, told TV Line about Colin.

While Greta Gerwig’s Academy Award-nominated “Barbie” was the highest-grossing film of 2023, as we’ve seen over the course of the last year, it angered and irritated many. From Oliver Stone to Kelly Reichardt to Ruben Östlund, seemingly everyone had a take on “Barbie” they were willing to share. The latest person to weigh in on the film, or at least give their candid thoughts, was TV super producer/writer Shonda Rhimes, known for “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” “Bridgerton,” and her Shondaland TV producing empire.

Shonda Rhimes argues that 'Barbie' "didn't need to be" a "feminist manifesto".The 'Bridgerton' producer admits that she enjoyed last year's blockbuster featuring Margot Robbie as the iconic toy doll but was disgruntled with the cultural discourse that put unnecessary expectations on the flick.Speaking to Variety, Shonda explained: "Ok, here's what I'll say. If you're expecting a 'Barbie' movie, then I thought it was great."But I think a lot of people were expecting so much more, and then tried to make it so much more. "There was nothing wrong with the movie; I thought it was totally delightful. But the weight people put on a movie about Barbie was very interesting to me."I've heard the song 'I'm Just Ken' in my house every single day because one of my kids sings it all the time. But, yeah, I think that people...

Nearly a year after Queen Charlotte’s six-episode Season 1 binge drop, mega producer Shonda Rhimes — who wrote and served as showrunner on the series — is speaking on the potential for new episodes.
The Netflix drama told the story of Charlotte and George’s passionate romance and how their arranged union sparked a societal shift that resulted in the diverse world presented in Bridgerton. The season ended with the titular monarch and a rarely lucid King George in present day celebrating the news of their son Edward finally conceiving an heir.

Shonda Rhimes wasn’t dazzled by the discourse surrounding “Barbie.”
The “Bridgerton” producer told Variety that while being behind documentary “Black Barbie” and even getting her own Mattel doll in her honor, she was less than thrilled about the pressure that audiences and critics put on Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” to make a profound cultural statement.

While you'd think that with the Bridgerton season 3 premiere just around the corner, Polish fans would be excited about all the promotion, that doesn't seem to be the case. While the world tour is certainly exciting enough for the fans, they are still dreading the actual storylines and character development that lies ahead.
With Bridgerton the TV show already known for making some unpleasant changes to the source material, including Colin and Penelope's arcs, viewers are skeptical that the show will leave the magical romance untouched. Besides, judging by the latest promo, it looks like Colin's brother Benedict has been given a piece of Colin's original storyline. Or was he?

It’s well known that in her decades-long career, Shonda Rhimes — the writer behind such television sensations as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal” and “Bridgerton” — has smashed pervasive racist-casting tropes, and in doing so, changed the literal face of TV, whether that meant having “Scandal” revolve around Kerry Washington’s antihero Olivia Pope or elevating Regé-Jean Page to thirsty heights as a Black duke in Regency England on “Bridgerton.”
What’s talked about less is how Rhimes has changed the way people speak. Any parent of a teenager who’s heard the derisive usage of “pick me” from Meredith’s “Pick me! Choose me! Love me!” speech in Season 2 of “Grey’s Anatomy” — used to describe, according to the Urban Dictionary, “a woman that is willing to do anything for male approval” — can tell you of Rhimes’ enduring power. Especially since that oratory was delivered in 2005, and given new life on TikTok.

Luke Newton, who is about to star in season three of Bridgerton as Colin, is speaking out about advice he received from Regé-Jean Page and Jonathan Bailey.
If you don’t know, Luke has starred in the series since season one, but season three will be his character’s biggest yet with Colin’s relationship with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlin) taking center stage.
The story will follow a similar pattern to seasons one and two, where the focus will be on one Bridgerton couple while numerous side stories are simultaneously happening. Season one focused on Regé-Jean and Phoebe Dynevor‘s characters and season two focused on Jonathan and Simone Ashley‘s characters.
Luke told InStyle, “[Regé] sort of grabbed me, gave me a big hug and was like, ‘Are you ready for this, bro?’” Rege also told him to take a “big holiday before all the madness starts.”

The days are getting longer and the weather is getting warmer, but it's hard to make the argument for going outside when there is so much good TV arriving in May. It is a superb month for returning favorites like Bridgerton Season 3 on Netflix, Interview With the Vampire on AMC, and Hacks Season 3 on Max. Evil fans should also get excited because the final season kicks off at the end of the month, and we don't have to be sad the demented ride is coming to an end until August.

As a Tamil Indian born in Perth, Scotland, raised partially in Tamil Nadu, then educated in Liverpool and Oxford, Charithra Chandran knows a thing or two about juggling multiple identities. In many regards, it’s become a strength as proven by her breakout role as scene-stealer Edwina Sharpe on the uniquely diverse period romance “Bridgerton”. But despite the role thrusting her into the spotlight, the role has come with some unexpected drawbacks for the actress.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Chandran opened up about the difficulties of working in what she sees as an industry that tries to box artists into being one thing and forces people of color to compete for space.
“You’re so focused on fighting your own that you become distracted from the people doing the oppressing,” Chandran said. “The oppressors have imposed the idea that there’s only one seat at the table, when...

Have you ever witnessed a cinematic moment so moving that it lingered long after the credits rolled? The death of Natasha Romanoff in Avengers: Endgame was just one of the moments that devastated Marvel fans, and Scarlett Johansson found it almost as hard to come to terms when she learned about her character’s fate.
Kevin Feige produced the 2019 superhero flick, which is a direct sequel to Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Mark Ruffalo.

Indeed, Johansson handled Feige’s cruel Avengers: Endgame decision with the poise of a true champion, a decision that continues to shock Marvel fans to this day. But behind the scenes, the Black Widow actress, 39, was not immune to the weight of this narrative shift, admitting to crying in her shower alone—a raw, human reaction to a character she had lived and breathed for almost a decade.

With things being so slow at the box office in the early going of 2024, you would half expect to hear people reporting sightings of tumbleweeds rolling across the floors of their local movie theaters. Praise to the cinema gods, May is finally arriving with a promising crop of tentpoles to help rejuvenate the marketplace, starting with director David Leitch's much-buzzed-about '80s series turned contemporary action-comedy "The Fall Guy" (you can read our own Jacob Hall's glowing review of the picture here). But never fear! If you're searching for something to watch at home, too, Netflix will provide in bountiful amounts.
Well, sort of.
Truth be told, next month is looking kind of sparse when it comes to Netflix exclusives outside the purview of shows with firmly established fandoms (see: the latest season of "Bridgerton") or the service's usual smattering of specialty offerings, including live comedy events and ongoing anime series.
