Meet the New Boss, Same as the Old Boss
After weeks of dismal and plummeting ratings, Vince McMahon has decided that the answer that fans were craving was a reset of sorts. Throw out the General Manager of the show and start listening more to what the fans truly want, he has prescribed. Somehow this means giving the McMahon family more airtime to run the show while claiming that it is the fans who have been given more power to make the decisions. Somehow it also means giving Shane McMahon, who was hitherto apportioned to sister show Smackdown, more authority to make decisions now on this WWE flagship series. And it means bringing in new performers we have never heard of. Weird.
After 3 hours of the "New Era" of Raw, not much seems like it has changed, nor shall it until Vince and Co. understands what his Co. really needs if he wants to actually start growing his fanbase once again: compelling and exciting storyline arcs that stay consistent each week. That's really it. Do this and the rest will fall into place. Vince has a propensity to order 75 rewrites of Raw each week by his writing team, therefore many followed storylines don't stay consistent after a few weeks. Why is Dean Ambrose angry at Seth Rollins? Why is Elias a good guy now? Why does Dolph have his entrance music back? Why is the zipper sound still there? How did Natalia turn face from heel? What made Lashley turn into a bad guy? Why are Nia and Bliss buddies? Exactly. Things just happen to suit upcoming live event and pay per view cards that the reason and storytelling take a backseat, causing viewer logic to be jostled and until that's fixed, the ratings will continue it's downward trend.
I'm still watching, but I don't think we're changing much. I won't be fooled again.
