Inspired by the tragic suicide of a Japanese friend, the filmmaker decided to make a movie about herself. Apparently she'd lead a pretty awesome life, the kind rich privileged white ladies who enjoy cultural tourism and can travel the world on a whim to "seek adventure" can. Then, she got dumped and it reminded her of her dead friend, because right, sure, it's all about her. Supposedly this movie is a meditation on ageism, but the fatal flaw is that the narrator doesn't engender any sympathy, because she never actually had any obvious hardship in her life. Saw this at Lunafest, and it was the low-light.
