Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (1971)
For the young and young at heart
In all of Gene Wilder's smart remarks and catchy tunes, he is simply saying "Use your imagination." No movie could exemplify this statement better than this one. For the young and young at heart, chocolate lover or not, anyone with a heart could enjoy this movie. From the oompa loompas to the TV that can shrink candy bars, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory has an intense imagination embedded in the dream of a little boy that could be anything if he simply believed that he could be anything he wanted. A heart-warming movie with heart-warming performances that definitely deserves a 10!
Schindler's List (1993)
incredible
One thousand words, the maximum for this review, are hardly enough to describe the direct impact this film had on me as well as some of my friends. Spielberg does a wonderful job depicting the harsh reality of Jewish Life back in the early 1940's. I vaguely remember one of his comments before the first commercial free showing of this film on NBC: "We must not forget the tragedy these Jews had to endure..." I am thoroughly convinced that I will never ever forget this movie now or 50 years from now. Schindler's List is powerful in direction, hypnotic in nature, and perfect in form. One of the best films of all time, if not THE best. Simply a great work, well deserving of all of its Oscars, especially Best Picture. I applaud you, Mr. Spielberg.
2gether (2000)
yet another great work from MTV
Most made for TV movies aren't appealing, but rather boring and apathetic to watch. 2Gether, on the other hand, is an upbeat and hilarious parody to the ever-growing popularity of boy bands. And the fact that these actors can actually sing make 2Gether a pleasant surprise. Even if this actual boy band can't draw an enormous teenage girl audience like rivals Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, and 98 Degrees, this MTV movie was worth the 90 minutes I had to spend watching it. Bravo!
