The Wonderful World of Disney: Walt: The Man Behind the Myth (2001)
Wonderful reminiscence of Walt Disney
Speaking as a fan and amateur historian of Walt Disney, this is quite an amazing film about Walt's life. There is so much in this film about Walt that isn't easily found in the books written about him.
I'm so happy that Walt's daughter Diane and the Family Foundation decided to create this film to preserve Walt's history. And it's emotional to see the interviews of his friends, family, employees and business associates who all thought so much of this unique man.
I've watched this many times with many different types of people, and everyone has been interested in this documentary.
HIGHLY recommended for those who love history, or Walt Disney! As I used to say when I was a "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" Tour Guide at Disneyland - "There aren't many individuals in the history of the world who have touched so many people in the countless ways that Walt Disney did."
Hell's Heroes (1929)
Not a great movie, but it shows Bodie
It's not the best, but not the worst movie ever made... interesting for the time. Best of all though, the beginning and end of the movie are shot in what is now a real ghost town - Bodie, CA.
The story has been done over and over, but as I said, if you have ever been to Bodie, it's worth checking out this movie - just to see the town as it once was.
Mr. Holland's Opus (1995)
One of my all time favorites...
Yeah, many people tease me about loving this movie so much, but what are movies for if not to make you feel good?
I remember when it came out, I hadn't seen the trailer, or heard anything about it, even though I was a projectionist at a movie theatre for some time. In fact, I had started the movie dozens of times (but projectionist rarely watch every movie they project). One day, while doing regular rounds and checking picture and audio, I caught the scene when they find out that Cole is deaf... I watched it for 2 minutes, and was already tearing up.
After that, I watched almost the entire movie twice each day for the next couple of days. I still watch it on video and it just makes me feel so good and thankful that there are teachers out there who give so much of their lives for all of us during our growing years.
Police Squad! (1982)
WONDERFUL!!
I finally found it on video!! I've been able to catch it on Comedy Central from time to time, but the copies off the TV weren't that great.
I don't think you'll ever find anything funnier than this series.
