Die Another Day (2002)
James Bond is not the gentleman-spy any longer
The new Bond has become very different from what the old films were famous for. "Die another day" continues the line that started in "The world is not enough". He is not a perfect gentleman anymore, he is more a mixture between SpiderMan, Annakin Skywalker and John McClane ("Die Hard"). Sometimes I felt they have based the story on the computer game "Unreal Tournament".
The plot was quite predictable. The stunts were extraordinary, but there are only a few directors/writers that understand that sequence of good action scenes do not make a good movie and do not save a bad plot.
I think, this is one of the weakest Bond movies ever made. It's still good entertainment but for a Bond movie, I had expected more. The producers have taken a step back from the good movie "The world is not enough" towards the weaker Pierce-Brosnan-films such as "Golden Eye".
For a 40-year-anniversary film this one contained to few scenes that should make up a Bond-movie. Best proof: He only had two women in this film!
Spider-Man (2002)
boring!
Simply said: I don't understand all the hype about this film. Yes, the effects are spectacular, but the rest is simply boring. A stupid love story, breaks in the plots and dialogs that are far too long. Towards the end, you can see that the script is written to prepare a sequel.
Five points for the effect, 1 point for the story makes six points. Even Star Wars Episode II was better.
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
Better than Episode I - but far from Episode IV
It wasn't hard to top Episode I but again I was disappointed of what George Lucas made out of this saga.
Annakin Skywalker often acts better than Superman - it's all so unlikely that I had to laugh several times.
The special effects are brilliant but they can't make up the weak story. OK, you get some more connections to the later Episodes (e.g. you get a first glance of the Death Star), but everything in this film seems to be perfect. Nobody gets seriously hurt.
The love story between Amidala and Annakin is the part with the most depth in this story. Both Natalie and Hayden played it very convincingly.
Christopher Lee made another appearance as the ultimate evil - yawn... wasn't Lord of the Rings enough?
10 points for the effects but alltogether it's only six points from me. Come on George... is this what you thought of 25 years after Episode 4 ?
Modeling: What It Takes with Shalane McCall (1988)
Shalane gives some important hints
Shalane McCall, once one of the most promising starlets (she played Priscilla Presley's daughter in the world's most famous soap opera DALLAS), and a model since she was 8 years old, gives some important hints how to become and stay a model.
Since DALLAS was the only important role she ever played, this video is one of the rare pieces that show Shalane when she was still in business.
