Kamen Raidâ tai Shokkâ (1972)
favorable comments
This is the 1st Kamen Rider theatrical movie. And it's also one of my favorite Kamen Rider movies yet, but it's not the best. There is no such thing as a bad Kamen Rider movie, they are all top-notch and excellent. But this movie missed some of the drama seen in the tv series. It's mostly an action movie, but it does have a plot. But I guess that's the point of a "big budget movie of a tv series", make it into an action picture while trying to keep the charm of the tv series (like the X-files). Well, fortunately this movie does keep most of the charm that can be seen in the tv show. It really isn't until the second movie "Kamen Rider vs. Hell's Ambassador" we get ALL the charm of the tv show.
I give it 9/10.
Ghost Warrior (1984)
Good, but not the best
This movie was pretty good, but not the best samurai movie. Hiroshi Fujioka, an excellent actor, did portray a samurai better than most actors have in past movies. Infact, Fujioka gave one of the best samurai performances of all time. He really knows his stuff. But it's the plot that keeps this movie from being one of the best samurai movies. And some of the acting is rather bad from Fujioka's supporting cast members. Hiroshi Fujioka is the main reason to see this movie. Mr. Fujioka used a REAL katana in this movie, which is rare in movies to use a real weapon.
Kamen Raidâ (1971)
What every superhero should be like!
The first Kamen Rider series, titled "Kamen Rider" is what every american superhero series should be like. It's dark, it's action packed, it has a gloomy atmosphere. All the Kamen Rider movies and shows are like that, but this series went under fire for the excessive violence. This show is great, Hiroshi Fujioka and the rest of the cast do a great job in this 98-episode saga against Shocker, and Gel-Shocker. The action is great, but gets better as the show progresses. Hiroshi Fujioka did most of his own stunts in and out of costume, but got into a stunt accident early in the show, and left for a while. So they brought in a couple new characters, Special Agent Taki, and the next Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider 2!
Kamen Raidâ Burakku (1987)
Amazing!!
This tv show is simply amazing. I've always been a huge fan of the Kamen Rider series, but "Kamen Rider Black" is by far the greatest Kamen Rider series to date. All Kamen Rider fans say it's one of the best, but many say it is the best. Tetsuo Kurata makes his acting debut as Kotaro Minami, aka Kamen Rider Black. Kurata-san makes a wonderful debut, you would have thought he's been acting his whole life. He was only 17 when KR Black first started. The plot, and the action is almost flawless. And the special effects are ahead of it's time. Only one complaint, the previous Kamen Riders don't even make a guest appearance in Black, but they do appear at the end of the next series, Black RX, for a handful of episodes.
