Shanghai Noon (2000)
100% fun
i thought this movie was extremely funny. owen wilson & jackie chan played off of each other really well. the story was nothing to get excited about, but then again, what jackie chan movie has a "great" story? i highly reccomend this to anyone who wants to see a very fun movie, without having to think too much. i do have a question for anyone out there who might know...can anyone tell me how to play that chinese drinking game(far & away, the funniest scene of the movie)?
Heathcliff (1980)
fiendish plot to brainwash children
first off, riff-raff had the much hotter girlfriend. with that said, let me go on my tirade about this show. i am convinced that this show contained subliminal messages. i, too, used to watch this show almost every day. however, i cannot recall ever thinking it was good. i'd watch it from start to finish, without turning the channel, & the whole time i'd be thinking, 'wow, this show really sucks.' it is my theory that this show was used as an experiment on the under 13 demographic by a syndicate of advertisers simply known as 'the angry mob'.
Great Expectations (1998)
poignant
i don't know. it seems like a lot of people really didn't like the movie, but i thought it was very moving. i thought it was a beautiful story, beautifully told, & beautifully shot. the acting was excellent all around as well. perhaps this movie is for those of us who have had our hearts ripped right out of our rib cages & broken into many, many small pieces(whether or not we should have any).
Tommy Boy (1995)
road movies like they oughta be
an extremely funny movie! one of the funniest i've seen. definitely a classic. david spade & chris farley are perfect foils for each other with impeccable timing. farley's physical comedy combined with spade's obnoxious wit make one of the most unique comedy teams ever. funny from beginning to end! a road/buddy movie for the ages! it was also nice to see that rob lowe can still get work...
My Boyfriend's Back (1993)
brilliant
i highly recommend this movie. one of the funniest movies you've never heard of. excellent writing & performances. brilliant satire of the 'forbidden love'(inter-racial dating, poor boy dating rich girl, etc.) genre! only in this movie, instead of the protagonist being a different race or social class, he's dead!
