The Hunted (2003)
*yawn* what it's over?
I too don't want to spend my time outlining the movie. I would rather just state the most glaring issues.
1. I have a feeling there was suppose to be some love story between LT (TL Jones) and the Lead FBI agent played by Connie Nielsen. But the fact that she looked and acted like a model might have kaboshed any idea of that. I feel bad for her, because she was like a fish out of water - her accent kept coming out and I did not buy her as an FBI agent from the first time she appeared on screen screaming "Sweep De Area, Ja, Dat's Guuud" ok so maybe I'm over doing the accent.
2. Benicio Del Torro had a total of maybe 1 page of dialogue in the movie. Sad. With a great opportunity to put Tommy Lee and Benicio against eachother - possible the best three named actors in our generation - they ended up knife fighting for most of their scenes. Cool fights, but I'd much rather see some acting.
3. Never quite understood if Benicio was a PETA activist or just some rogue Vegan who didn't like when innocent animals died. The hunter scene was way over my head.
4/10 - not worth rental - wait for it to come out on Cable, then you decide.

Black Hawk Down (2001)
Dude Where's My Gun?
The only thing this movie did for me (other than take $6.50) was
reaffirm my belief that Hollywood can promote ANYTHING into a
buzz. BHD was full of every war cliche in the book. I would rather
they not base the movie on facts, and blow some more stuff up,
send in the Recon Rangers or Navy Seals and have a visual
enemy you hate that they get in the end.
This was just a badly acted, directed, and produced documentary.
When I heard.....Oscar buzz....I was expecting..platoon, SPR, or thin
red line. Black Hawk Down is more like the military version of
Dude Where's My Car.
One Line from movie:
"Tell mom and dad.....I fought well.......*gasp*...."
Audience Reaction:
"HAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAH"

Booooooooring...
blah....sorry but I can't jump on the Billy Crystal Bandwagon and tell
everyone how great this movie was, because it wasn't really that
good.
Please someone find actors who can throw baseballs...I am sick
and tired of watching these types of baseball movies. At least
when Kevin Costner throws a baseball he looks like a ball player.
But oh well maybe my expectations were too high from seeing all
these great reviews.
City Slickers 3* anyone...anyone...anyone?
Varsity Blues (1999)
Surprise, Surprise
I really didn't want to like this movie. I only rented it because blockbuster had no other DVD's in at the time. Boy was it a nice surprise. Without getting into the great character development of the coach and "dawson". It was just eye candy, I finally was able to get caught up in a teenage movie with out laughing. About time. Kudos to all involved in the making.

The Castle (1997)
Special night experiencing "The Castle"
I had the privilege of being able to see a special screening of "The Castle" before it opened to the public in Los Angeles. The creators of "The Castle" spoke briefly before the picture began and gave us a little insight and history. For example, they filmed this movie in 11 days! Talk about long days, I can just imagine!
"The Castle" was so much fun, we all have stories about our parents and this is the kind of movie that reminds you that the quirks that our parents have are what makes them special. A must see for all families. Enjoy!!!!!
Go (1999)
Kick A$$
A cross between Swingers and Pulp Fiction. This was a lot of high flying fun. I'm definitely seeing this movie again. My prediction is a strong "GO" cult following is not far behind.
What are you waiting for, "GO" see it.
8MM (1999)
Can I get some Pace here?
Here I was ready to be blown out of the water by a thriller that could match up if not surpass SEVEN. Well needless to say I was not even touched by a ripple of water. The lack of chemistry between Nicolas Cage and Catherine Keener was enough to make the screening room chuckle during supposed intense scenes in this picture. 8mm just felt as if it never got going, every turn was as predictable as a dull Batman movie. I was able to enjoy a great performance from Joaquin Phoenix, maybe they should have cast him as the wife, hey it would have been more believable than Ms. Keener. In memory of Gene Siskel. THUMBS DOWN!
