Super Fly (1972)

Best soundtrack of the 70s...

Considering the odds that Sig Shore had with getting permission from gang leaders for shooting (scenes that is) in certain areas and a low budget that made them rehash scenery by moving a garbage can or two, it's a surprise that this movie has gotten such critical acclaim.

The soundtrack is without question, amazing composition, production, originality, style (need I go on), etc. that it leads me to believe that is the main factor of its success. Shaft had the bigger budget. The Mack had the better acting (I feel at least). Superfly has the soundtrack. F*** Saturday Night Fever!!

Eraserhead (1977)

For the experimental mind in you...

Ok...this is DEFINITELY one of those films that is not for everyone. I struggled and made it through Lost Highway, but I was not sure if I could last the journey of Eraserhead. While you need a powerful attention span for this movie, you also need a sick sense of humour or you must be able to approach one. This movie was disgusting but cool as hell...

Never underestimate the power of low budget 70s flix

MAN! What a cool A** film! Simplicity is the key to this one. While some people might say that the acting was horrible, I feel that it fits the mold of the movie: unknown but entertaining. It has Carpenter's trademark built up

suspense feel. This is probably due usually to his great movie scores. The opening theme song makes you feel as if you can get out right now and turn into Charles Bronson in Deathwish. Check it out!!

Some serious a** kickin' goin' on here! Including Scatman Crothers getting down right raw, Bruce Lee style! Blaxploitation meets the Martials arts. And for another a**-kick-a-thon with Afro Lee (Jim Kelly), check out the tour-de-force, "Three the Hard Way" and his time to shine with the mack, B.L., in "Enter the Dragon".
