Especially disappointing because I had been looking forward to it.
Daniels is an excellent actor; so too Diane Lane, Tom Pelphrey, Lucy Liu, et al.
The plot sounded fascinating...I was anticipating a fall & rise kind of story: a penetrating look at how people like 'Charlie Croker' get to be a Charlie Croker.
I was anticipating plot subtleties....interesting and surprising relationship twists as great actors are given an opportunity to explore and expand their character's range. I was hoping for sharp -- GlenGarry Glen Ross kind of engagements.
But noooooooooooooo.
Nothing like any of that happens.
I've seen Bugs Bunny cartoons that have more depth and better dialogue.
The Black Man Arrested by Police story was nothing but distraction.
Pelphrey's Peepgrass was nothing but cartoon.
Diane Lane was beautiful, as always, and totally irrelevant.
And the 'relationship' which sprung full-blown, overnight with her Martha Croker was completely and absolutely unbelievable.
Sadly, I watched the whole thing, thinking it's gonna get better.
It got worse...and then worse again.
I would recommend the Weather Channel as a superior alternative.
