Strange Fits of Passion (1999)
Watch this do big things!
I saw this at the Noosa Film Festival. Strange Fits of Passion is a quirky, black coming of age comedy drama. It twists and turns and takes you on a trip of self realisation. Michela Noona gives a powerful perfomance as She, who comes to grips with her self absorbtion.
The secondary story line, of her best friend is heart wrenching, yet this film combines humour with 20 something angst. Not one for the over 35 market but anyone between 16 and 35 will love it.
Onegin (1999)
Spectacular stuff!
I saw Onegin as a part of the Noosa Film Festival and would just like to say that I thought it was brilliant. The performances from Ralph Fiennes and Liv Tyler are Academy Award worthy. Look out too for the very beautful and charismatic Lena Headey. But the most powerful aspect of the film is the cinematography which is the best I have ever seen.
Soft Fruit (1999)
Best Aussie flick in years
I saw Soft Fruit today and am still thrilled. The performances from the cast are wonderful, Jeanie Drynan in particular. The casting is amazing - these people actually ARE a family. Its touchingly sad and yet very very funny. One of the best Aussie films, in years. These people don't parade their Australianness like so many other local films do. Great script, great cast! Beats the pants off any thing else around!
