The Darwin Conspiracy (1999)
This film deserves to be part of Worst 250 Films of All Time
No other words describes this movie other than it absolutely stinks. The plot seemed interesting with a perfectly frozen man with incredibly advanced DNA, but for some stupid reason, this vital plot point was dropped and a relationship between this scientist and his retarded brother was brought to the forefront. The dialogue was hackneyed and trite. Another reason to know why this movie stinks is that the San Diego Padres were incorporated as an essential part of the "plot". If I could give this movie a negative score; I would!
A Man for All Seasons (1966)
Where have you gone Thomas More, a lost people looks to you to guide them.
I can't say enough good things about "A Man for All Seasons". After seeing it, I went to my local library to learn more about Thomas More, the film is based on a play by the same name. The film's only drawback, but since it follows the play rather closely, so it isn't a drawback is that it doesn't show the profound sense of peace and joy in Thomas More's life. The film, out of respect for the play, fails to mention that Thomas More grew a beard in prison & when it came time to chop off his head, he asked that his beard not be cut, because "it hath committed no treason". After this film, Thomas More has become my personal hero and I whole-heartedly recommend this film to everyone. Those considering a career in politics should definitely watch it and learn more about More.
The film is a decent job at capturing the inner joy of the author of "Utopia" and also is commitment to his religion of Catholicism. I want to add an editorial comment, to see the joy and peace in Thomas More's life when it was confronted with treason and death to the anger, hatred, and ignorance of Kevin Smith's next movie "Dogma" in regards to no chance of death, I pity Kevin Smith. I think people who watch this movie will understand that there are principles worth fighting for like truth, honor, justice, beauty, intelligence, and holiness. Those lacking peace in their lives can gain some solace for their troubles. Thomas More richly deserves his sainthood and this film does an amazing job at showing this unknown life to the 20th century.
Rent this movie - Share it with your friends - Teach children there are values still worth dying for
Thunderball (1965)
The best James Bond scene & quote ever
The only thing that saved this movie from getting a 6 and jumping it to a 7 was the scene where James Bond shoots a baddie with a dart gun and utters "I think he got the point". The rest of the movie is all right. It's typical James Bond - action, gadgets, women in bikinis, and classic quotes, but the plot has much to be desired.
Slums of Beverly Hills (1998)
Mind-Numbingly BAD!!!!!!!
The most difficult thing about this movie is to say anything positive about it. The characters were stereotypical "white-trash", the movie's "plot" was stunted from the beginning, and the worst feature of this movie was that the nudity was so blatantly from body doubles it was funny. Regretfully, that was the only funny thing in the movie. Ms. Jenkins would be better served if in the future, she would refrain from using her life-story to "entertain" people. It was simply that bad. The one positive aspect of this movie (this has nothing to do with the lack-of-quality of the film) is that my brother shelled out the money for this stinker.
