The Breakfast Club (1985)
Who said detention was a bad thing???
So simple yet so effective.
Its hard to believe this film only consists of a handful of characters and is set within one building.
Boring you may say - but it kept me hooked from start to finish.
Its so unbelievable how a bunch of students who seemed so different at the start ended up having so much in common. Makes you think how well you really know the people around you!!!
Its a classic - unless you're looking for hundreds of people, explosions and cars!!!
Shaan (1980)
Indian James Bond film!
If you like James Bond, you'll love it!!!
Pure action, good roles, good songs! Bit different from the usual indian themes too.
Recommended!
Sholay (1975)
24 years on ... its still the best!
Only one word for this move ... PERFECTION!
Even 24 years on, I can seriously say I have not seen anything that comes close!
This film has action, dancing, singing, romance, villains, all rolled into the most complete film ever! The character building is very strong. The dialogue is unforgettable. How can anyone ever forget Gabbar Singh's classic lines throughout the whole film.
Lets put it this way, the film was selling out at the big screen when I went to India in 1982 (seven years after release). Millions of movie-goer's cant be wrong!!!
Yaadon Ki Baaraat (1973)
Good songs ... shame about the film!
All I can say is that I recommend everyone buys the soundtrack. It's a 70's classic.
Cant say much for the film though - lets say it's an acquired taste!
Subway (1985)
So French .... yet not so French at all!
Amazing! I have little more to say.
Luc Besson does it so well. The film is so typically arty in a french way, yet the characters and the action make it seem so un-French!! Its the perfect balance!
Glad I saw the subtitled version as opposed to the dubbed one. It helps to appreciate the mood of the whole film.
I'll seriously have to say it could be the best film I ever saw!
Breakin' (1984)
Memories!
Forget the story, forget the clothes! Its the dancing that makes this film! Bring back all the childhood memories of the early 80s. Nice to have a film which focuses on something that many people simply have completely forgotten.
