A metaphor of fear
7 June 2020
The title is a metaphor of fear as seen by the eyes of Jesse's character. Divorce is one of the biggest fears when we were kids. Stiil it does.

As a NY film maker, Baumbach has a great influence of Woody Allen when it comes to write and tell a story, but he has his own style and narrative resources. The acting assemble is great, he gets the best from the talented Linney and Daniels... and the kid actors. Now screening at the HBO app, don't miss it!

A crazy fest of twists
30 April 2020
A triumph in terms of directing, writing, acting, editing... even the music is great. This thriller has pulse and punch. It's a tale that deals with the consequences that a chain of lies brings to the main characters... and how to avoid them trying to be smarter than the others. The plot: Two lovers, one of them with a big climb to entrepreneur success and fame, hide a car accident involving the death of a young man. An unfortunate series of choices will eventually lead to a spiral of lies, evil acts and betrayal. A real crowd pleasing movie. Don't miss it!

Touches of greatness but...
14 November 2001
... a disappointing ending. This film is full of terrific acting and the atmosphere is an exercise in style with outstanding results. Sometimes, the movie reminded me of "Psycho" and "The Shinning". Where did it go wrong? The bad ending... is like putting some water on fire, but it never boils. Could've been a classic, anyway... you get an unforgettable movie.

A great tale about loneliness
8 August 2000
Thank God this great film came to Mexico. It's the kind of movie that deserved better luck in the whole world. The history is terrific and touching, it's about a lonely junkie in his way to self-destruction, then he knows a girl as troubled as him, who -someway- gives hope to his life. It's by far the best 90's update for Scorsese's "Taxi Driver", and the "romantic" story reminds me of Luc Besson's "Leon". A must see if you like movies for a reason beyond pure entertainment.
