The Nice Girl (2009)
I enjoyed the film
I just saw this film at a private screening and I thought it was really well done. The story, the cinematography, editing, casting, and overall look is impressive. The performances stand out with April Wade and Sigmund Watkins. April has a natural style and presence. Her mannerisms, look, and focus on detail carry this film. Sigmund has a great energy and tone. He is consistent and he really does a great job with the character.
I've seen the directors other films and this one stands out. It's really solid, well directed, and well put together. I'm sure this will do well in the festival circuit.
Welcome to Shady Pines (2008)
We need more films like this!
I love the mockumentary, Borat style to the film. It really adds to the fun and goofiness. In 5 minutes, you really get the style for the show.
My favorite character is Walter/Winona, it's so wrong but so good. You got to love Estelle Getty! The name rocks and she is just so annoyingly great. You know people just like her and she just keeps rolling with the punches. She reminds me of Peggy Hill form "King of the Hill" with her big ole face, smile, and her all knowing personality.
The music adds to the entire piece, it's a character in it's own. The score and soundtrack are right on and make the film even more enjoyable!
The Cheapest Man in the Room (2008)
Very Funny and True!
I just saw The Cheapest Man in the Room and it is very funny. The acting, music, and overall production was really good. The story idea is the best part, because we all know cheap people and the things they do to save a buck. That's what makes this film even better - it relates to true life. It gave me a few ideas about how to save money, especially with the economy these days. I don't want to give away any jokes, but I can see this film in a full length version with several sequels to follow.
If you're looking for a good, funny short film, you need to check out The Cheapest Man In The Room.
