Martial Arts films have not gotten any better than this. Technically of course there gave been advancements, but because this was the first serious attempt by a major studio to deal with this subject coupled with the use of the most talented and and charismatic performer in the the history of martial arts cinema, this film remains the "Citizen Kane" of the Genre. The reputation that Lee had as an instructor and innovator have been unequaled in the field (By a performer). The rapid popularity of Lee in the world of entertainment confirms that his success is a result of his immense talent and perfect cultural timing. This combination of factors as a phenomenon is only exceeded by The Beatles in show business.

Since when do historical inaccuracies mean it 's bad entertainment?

I can't believe some of the reviews of this film. It's getting am undeserved bad rap. Much of the criticism seems to focus on historical inaccuracies. So what! It's a very entertaining film. I believe the spirit of the film is true to the time period. The Battle Of The Bulge with Henry Fonda is one of the most historically inaccurate War films ever made but I still enjoy watching it. Don't be scared away from checking out this film because of the unfair reviews seen here. Give it a shot. The acting is decent, it has enough stars to maintain interest and the action sequences are very good. Perhaps a bit video game-like at times but very much worth watching. I think it was very ambitious of them to not only show the Pearl Harbor attack but also the Doolittle raid on Japan.

Still the benchmark WWII Documentary

After all these years I still consider this series the finest example of World War II documentary film making. The interviews with the many participants from all countries set this apart from any other project. It would be great to see a contemporary documentarian(Ken Burns ?) take on this topic and try to gather information from veterans before they are all gone. With modern technology to improve old archival footage and lots of information that has been unearthed since 1974 when The World At War was produced, an updated version of this series would be welcome. The History Channel has made some fine shows dealing with many aspects of WWII but an expansive series such as the World At War has not been successfully attempted since the original. If you are interested in this era don't miss this series. It is required viewing.

Outstanding 70's TV Movie Still Very Entertaining

I first saw this when I was in Junior High. It was an event at the time. Everybody talked about it. After revisiting this film all these years later I still find it enjoyable escapist fare. After all - "The story's the thing". This has a great story written by Richard Matheson. As with the shark in Jaws part of the fun is not showing the Vampire too soon. Darren McGavin is the perfect choice for Kolchak. His narrative drives the movie. Barry Atwater has one of the most memorable "non-speaking" roles ever! And I think the scenes depicting the superhuman qualities of the Vampire are extremely effective. Rent it or buy it and have fun. Highly recommend
