Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 (2000)
Run Away! It's Horrible!
For anyone who was truly terrified by Blair Witch, you will howl with laughter while you watch this horrible sequel. It's not scary, it has nothing to do with the original, and the actors couldn't act their way out a paper bag. Don't be fooled! Don't pay the eight bucks to see this crap!
The Pest (1997)
Oh My God
This movie is pathetic in every way possible. Bad acting, horrible script (was there one?), terrible editing, lousy cinematography, cheap humor. Just plain horrible.
I had seen 'The Wishmaster' a couple weeks before this movie and I thought it was a dead-ringer for worst movie of the year. Then, I saw 'The Pest' and suddenly 'The Wishmaster' didn't seem so bad at all.
Bad Bad Bad. Excruciatingly bad.
The Last American Virgin (1982)
Worst Movie Ever. Ever.
Having seen just about every movie on record that a child of the eighties could have seen, this ranks at the very, very, very bottom of the heap of bad movies I have ever seen. It's depressing and just plain, painful to watch. Nuff said.
Picking Up the Pieces (2000)
Campy film starring Woody Allen and a whole bunch of others
'Picking Up the Pieces' has a campy-type of feel about it, centering around the all-healing chopped-off hand of a philandering wife (forever stuck in the shape of 'the bird'). Something notable about the film is the extremely diverse cast - Woody Allen, Cheech Marin, David Schwimmer, Kiefer Sutherland, Fran Drescher, Andy Dick, Lou Diamond Phillips, Sharon Stone. The casting director must have had a field day with this one. The movie kind of reaches one level and just hangs there all the way through. It's not all that funny, it's not all that smart. But any scenes involving Woody Allen and his dog or Woody Allen and his deceased wife (Sharon Stone) make the film worth it. C+
Small Time Crooks (2000)
Hi-LAR-ious - Woody's back!
Easily one of the funniest Woody Allen films in awhile. The audience reception was great - non-stop laughs from start to finish. It's a fun time with a fun story and fun characters - it might possibly one of his biggest crowd-pleasers. And, in typical Woody Allen fashion, he's created a great character for Elaine May (as cousin May) and she nails it dead-on. She's the real gem in this hilarious movie. The rest of the cast suits the film just fine also - Allen, Ullman, Lovitz, Rapaport. And although I'm usually hesitant to recommend Woody Allen films to my friends (his films don't appeal to everyone), this is one I'm happy to encourage them to see.
