Lloyd in Space (2001)
Contrary to popular belief, this is something special
Lloyd in space may fall into the category of your typical run of the mill cartoon, but that is not to say that this cartoon will disappoint. It won't. It has very likable characters that may look familiar, but its lead character is one of a kind. Lloyd has a lot to learn about himself and life in general. The interesting thing for kids is, Lloyd is experiencing his turbulent teen years in a world very unfamiliar to any of us. Lloyd has many adventures in space all the while learning very important life lessons. The first episode when Lloyd turns thirteen is very touching and insightful when he discovers just what being a man means. I think this is a cartoon all kids should watch.
The Insider (1999)
i must agree - good not great
The insider, although wonderful at some parts, in my opinion, is not all it's cracked up to be. Russell Crowe and Al Pacino do give stellar performances, but I found this movie to be extremely slow! To give an example, the scene at the driving range is one of the longest and most unneeded scenes in film history. The entire scene could have been cut in half, at least. As a movie fan, I am all into long shots, but this was ridiculous!!! The story was indeed intriguing, but the way it was presented was nothing that needed to take 2 and a half hours of my time. I believe the actors did well with what they were presented, however, and I cannot state this enough, it was just way too slow and long!!!!
Love's Labour's Lost (2000)
Hilarious, fun filled Shakespearean joyride.
Love's Labour's Lost is an all out fun ride through the comedy of Shakespeare. Never before have I laughed so hard while viewing Shakespeare - Kenneth Branagh's direction captured the comedic side beautifully. Although seemingly "corny" or "over the top" at times, it can be recognized that each scene that demonstrated these characteristics was intended to do so - rather than they were funny attempts that fell short. Performances were good, the music was a nice touch, and the story - wonderful. It was simply a lot of fun!
