Powerful and brutal film focusing on the real story of a murderer at 10 Rillingdon place. Great performances and lush cinematography. John Hurt and Dickie Attenbrough are superb. A corking crime classic!

Once Upon a Time in America

A brilliant and ambitious gangster epic. (WARNING:Plot points revealed!)

In my opinion the third best gangster film (After Godfather and Goodfellas), but still fantastic all the same. It is extremely poetic in its flashbacks, Sergio Leone really captures the atmosphere of New York in the prohibition era. Preformances are all perfect, direction is unbeatable, how this didn't win any oscars or nominations even, is ludicrous, (Although that is the fault of the distributor for releasing a 'butchered' version of the film). Costumes, sets, everything clicks. Ennio Morricone's music is as outstanding as ever. My favourite parts: The first time cut signified by 'Yesterday'. THe second signified by the frisbee, and the egnimatic ending, in the rubbish truck. Its heavy going at 3 hours 40 mins, but its like eating a large meal. Hard but satisfying. One minor flaw: Sergio Leone's treatment of women, especially the charecter of Deborah.

This film is perfect in every way. Acting is first rate. The script and story are flawless. Bernard Herrmann's music is fantastic, the direction is top notch, the cinematography is simply masterful, the costumes great and the makeup astonishing. No other film has such attributes. See it now!

O Brother, Where art thou shows us once again that the Coen brothers are really top of their game. With each film different from the next, yet still using the same actors in different roles (Turturro and Hunter). Cloony has been making a string of one good film after another. (Out of Sight-Three Kings-Perfect Storm) and this is a worthy addition. He preforms very well in a role competely against type. If you are a Coen virgin, see it now and welcom yourself to their world. If you are familliar with them, see it and continue to be impressed.

Guy Richie and Vinnie Jones have done it again!

Guy Richie's follow up to Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrels is every bit as astonishing as its predecessor. The humour is better and I have never seen people in a cinema laugh as loud and as frequently as they did here. Vinnie Jones plays a similar role as Big Chris, here as Bullet Tooth Tony. His appearance is limited but boy does he make an impact. Even when he is not on screen there is much to savour from Dennis Farina as Avi and a trio of pawnbrokers who are sent to rob a bookies. Brad Pitt sheds his movie start personna and preforms impressively as an Irish gypsie. Unlike Lock Stock.. the humour will appeal to all nationalities. However they mind some slang expressions such as Pikey and blag hard to understand. Good preformances, fantastic characters, razor sharp diologue, expert direction and camera work and brilliant humour, Snatch will make you laugh more than any other movie this year. See it now.

Without a doubt the most thought provoking film of all time and Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece. Malcom McDowell excels as Alex, giving charm, wit and charisma to the film. The film gets boring during the middle area (Alex's prison sentence) But when he is out and performing acts of Ultra Violence the film is unusually compelling. I would recommend this to anybody who likes films. But be warned, the violence may offend some.
