Violent Night (2022)
Truly gratuitous Christmas magic.
Absolutely outstanding. I imagine a bunch of drunk guys started arguing at the bar about the best Christmas movie, whether it is The Santa Clause or Home Alone, and then one guy points out the obvious- Die Hard. A few drinks later they have combined them all and hired the director of What Ever Happened to Monday, and this is the movie they came up with.
Over the top gratuitous violence and gore. Every Christmas trope you could imagine. Even Ellen Griswold is in it.
The movie stays consistent on its explanation of Santa (Christmas magic, but even Santa doesn't know how it works). And even more consistent on the blood splatter, severed limbs, crushed skulls, and homages to Home Alone. Absolutely the best Christmas killing spree you could have wished for.
Moon Knight: Asylum (2022)
If you didn't have 6 episodes of material, just make it 4 episodes
This was 5 minutes of uninteresting and predictable backstory jammed into a full episode. Completely unnecessary and boring. I would have given up if it wasn't only 1 episode left.
Entebbe (2018)
The dance might have been a better idea than the sympathy for the terrorists
The dance was pointless and just served as a distraction. It didn't fit, didn't add, and didn't entertain.
On the other hand, it didn't try to make a connection with the terrorists, didn't try to explain their plight, didn't ignore the people they killed.
The Invitation (2015)
Boring and predictable
Boring and predictable, but not at the same time.
The first 80 minutes were about as exciting as watching paint dry. No one could have predicted the film could be that uneventful for that long.
Then it got predictable. All the stuff you had been waiting for finally happened. 15 minutes of Luke warm action that you thought would happen earlier in the movie finally trickles out.
Then, just as the last moments of the film arrive, a surprise ending! Which, instead of being sprung on you hoping to leave a lasting impression, is instead gradually introduced so that 30 seconds later the big reveal is now a tepid event that you caught onto 28 seconds ago, 29 if somehow your brain hadn't turned off before that and taken the extra second to wake up.
This movie will make you wish for the time of analog TVs, when you could tune to a non- station and just watch static.
The Babadook (2014)
Waste of time
I had heard good things about this movie, so I was disappointed when it was painfully boring. About half an hour in I was resigned to watch the whole movie, but I was convinced that I had wasted 1 1/2 hours of my life that I would never get back.
But it wasn't so! By the end of the movie I realized that Daylight Savings Time was ending that very night, and I'd be getting back an hour right then! So I only wasted 30 minutes that I was never getting back. Phew!
Actually, it got worse at the end. It was boring and disappointing for the first 75 minutes, but stupid and pointless by the time it ended.
Seriously, watch something else. Anything.
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)
Funniest ever
This is simply the funniest race movie of all times.
Even if you don't know many actors from the 60's, you'll recognize many of these names. Great actors. Perfect comedic timing.
Heck, even Jerry Lewis is funny in this movie.
