GOOD PITTED AGAINST EVIL .......AND DESTINY'S ALL.
14 November 2000
"Trimurti"had the merit of getting a successful producer and an extremely talented director working on the same film.Although it was reportedly less up to the expectations of the masses IT was a "melange des genres" film which had greater appeal for an Indiana Jones western public. The film like most Mukul Anand Films is technically far ahead of its times as regards indian mainstrem cinema. The story of two brothers with different ways of being and living, their love for their younger brother symbolises the forces of materialism versus idealism. Above all the majestic portrayal of good against evil epitomised by the fight of the mother against the monstrous KOOKA and the destruction of the latter in this tale of tantric destiny makes this film a compelling must for all Mukul Anand film fans

Hum (1991)
AN ALL OUT ENTERTAINER
13 November 2000
HUM or "US"redefined the notion of entertainment in indian cinema by introducing sophisticated use of camera framing and an exploration of the use of irony in the guise of farce .Most villains in Mukul Anand's films are caricatures and in this respect "HUM" introduces this specificity in this talented director's cinema. The rhythmic song and dance number "JOOMA CHUMMA DE DE "got packed houses dancing literally from India to USA.This film also brought to a cinema art et essai director his first feeling of what a popular film director's reputation meant .

A SPINE CHILLING REMAKE OF CAPE FEAR
13 November 2000
"Kanoon Kya Karega"or "What can justice do"?got a very talented young director Mukul S Anand his first film award of the most promising director of the year in India. It succeeds in reproducing the spine chilling atmosphere of this famous story of a hardened criminals lust for revenge and the havoc it wreks on the family of the lawyer who sent him to prison. The sensitivity of the indian context and the rigour of the original render the sparing use of stock in trade mainstream indian cinema devices such as song and dance to further the thematic furthering of the narrative make it a must viewing for all Mukul S Anand fans.

Based on a contemporary indian(hindi)poem's title Agneepath or the trail of fire"is a multi-cultural action packed film which reflects many of contemporary India's crucial problems namely the plight of the down trodden and gangsterism. For Indian and other viewers too this highly intense and sophisticatedly directed film is a must for all MUKUL ANAND fans.IN keeping with the times the director attempted a Syl Stallone voice casting for the angry young man hero image.
