I hope its around for a while
I recently watched episode six, "The Beast" -- very good show. I can say that this series started out well and has only gotten better each week. I've liked the evolution of Adrian Paul's character, Cole. He truly started out as a "fish out of water" having to learn the very basic of human ways. Adrian Paul has brought just the right mix of innocence and intelligence to this character. The character comes more into its own each week. And, the chemistry between Cole and Mel (Amy Price-Francis) is wonderful. Jess is also good. I think her character gives the average person's perspective on what's going on. She doesn't know that Cole is an alien at this point and she reacts to him and his behaviors the way I think most people would. I've liked the story lines of each episode, but I like even better the time and attention given to character development. Anyone who hasn't seen this show, should. I hope its around for a while.
Highlander: Endgame (2000)
A movie worth seeing.
This is not a perfect movie. It has some flaws, but it is a movie well worth seeing. It has some of the same qualities that made the tv series one of my favorites. It's a movie that works on a number of different levels. It has terrific "ass kicking" action for those who like amazing fight scenes. It has romance and the historic flashbacks that are hallmarks of both the highlander movies and the series. It also has breathtaking shots of Scotland that are only enhanced by the accompanying music. Adrian Paul and Christopher Lambert do justice to the roles they play. Peter Wingfield and Jim Byrnes from the series are also wonderful to watch in their brief but well executed roles. One of the things I liked best about the movie was all the conversation that it generated. Adrian Paul the star of the movie said it was about redemption. I think the movie explored that concept well and fueled many a conversation on the subject, what is the nature of redemption? Can redemption be achieved through revenge? Did Connor achieve redemption? Did Duncan redeem Kell? And, of course the movie's a must see to find out Connor's fate. This movie has been largely panned by critics but some of the critics reviews make me wonder whether some of them even saw the movie. I urge movie goers to see this movie for themselves and reach their own conclusions. Highlander: Endgame is good thought provoking drama. The movie ROCKS.
