Unbelievable.....
12 January 2001
I've been reading through at least three pages of comments for this movie and all that ones that I read that were negative all mentioned the same thing. It was "corny" because the characters flew over rooftops and through trees. Or it was "unoriginal" because it was about Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang's characters because so many American movies have strong women as central characters. Hey, guess what? This ISN'T an American movie. Michelle Yeoh and Ziyi Zhang's characters aren't two airheads running around like chickens without heads. You can't compare this movie with any other movie that's been made. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is so original, it apparently hurts some people to admit to it. I found this movie to be the best movie I had seen all year, and I saw a lot of movies this year. Everything about this movie was wonderful, and its a shame some people can't see past the visual representation of the character's strengths. They don't fly because they're related to Peter Pan...Their ability to fly is a representation of their power as warriors. But as I've said before, there's just some people who don't get it, and its a shame too. This movie is just beautiful and I would recommend it to everyone. (In fact, I have!)

i was so surprised!
3 January 2001
When I first saw a clip of this movie on a talk show that Ang Lee was on, I KNEW I wanted to see it. I saw it the second week it was in release, and it was GREAT! I was so afraid that they were going to dub the movie and I was worried that the subtitles might go super fast like they do with some of the other movies I've seen, but they don't. The artistry of this movie is wonderful. It seems a little corny or melodramatic in parts, but that's easily ignored with the wonderful actors in the movie and I was so happy to see lots of people seeing a subtitled movie! The fight scenes are wonderful, Michelle Yeoh's fight scenes in particular. I was just so happy with this movie! I'd see it again if it were playing around here, but it isn't. I saw it in Philadelphia. But I would HIGHLY recommend this movie to anyone. Its so much more than an action flick.

The best thing to ever have TENCHI written on it!
7 September 2000
Tenchi Forever! is perhaps the best thing that ever had Tenchi's name on it. For once, the entire Tenchi crew is taken on a trip that explore their emotions and feelings. There is no action, no fighting, and its light on humor, but its supposed to be that way. That's what makes this movie unique from the others. Ryoko and Aeka are forced to work together and Tenchi is finally pushed toward choosing between them. This movie makes me cry every time I see it. The animation is beautiful, although you do find yourself wishing for a glimpse of the Tenchi Muyo! TV series animation, but this is great in its own right. I perfectly wonderful movie. 10 out of 10. Its just great.

Tenchi Muyo! (1992–2005)
What happened?!
7 September 2000
Shin Tenchi TV is just bad. First of all, they changed character designs. They turned a perfect good plot into something that one might see on Sailor Moon. They completely ruined this series with bad animation and goofy characters. Ryoko and Aeka were once respectable characters but now they have turned them into fools just as they have done with Kione. I'm sorry, but I had high hopes for this series. And giving Tenchi a girlfriend is just bad news all the way around! The only thing that keeps me watching it that it IS funny and Ryoko is still a central character.

Tenchi Muyo! (1992–2005)
Possibly the greatest Tenchi Muyo! tv series...
7 September 2000
I really liked Tenchi Muyo! TV (aka Tenchi Universe). The plot was really good and the characters were kept true to their counterparts in the OVA. One thing I didn't like is that there were a few characters that were basically ignored throughout the series only receiving one or two episodes to their name (namely Washu). The animation isn't as good as the OVA but it is definitely better than Shin Tenchi TV. This is a quality anime as well. I'd recommend this to anyone who even mentioned anime around me.

Not as good as the other two movies...
7 September 2000
Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu No Eve had the opportunity to surpass Tenchi Muyo! in Love, but it failed miserably. The over-all plot was completely overlooked and there's a lot of things that remain un-answered. It was undeveloped and way too short. It needed more detail. I love the Tenchi Muyo! series and I like all the movies, including this one, but it could have been so much more.

A truly great movie, with just one downfall...
7 September 2000
I personally LOVE Tenchi Muyo! in Love. I just have one problem with it. It is the exact opposite of Tenchi Muyo! Manatsu No Eve. Where that movie should have been longer, this one could have been shorter. However, the animation absolutely upholds the wonderful tradition of the Tenchi Muyo! series and the story is just too great. I really like this movie. This is a movie for anyone who has an appreciation for good story telling.

Tenchi Muyo! (1992–2005)
The best anime ever.

The Tenchi Muyo! Ryo-Ohki OVA is perhaps the best of the Tenchi Muyo! series. The animation is beautiful and the overall plots are good as well. Just one problem: They left the plot open! Other than that, this is a great anime. Anyone can like this series. Even my mom who despises anime absolutely loves Tenchi Muyo! It just has wonderful characters and the english seiyuu are great and fitting the character which is so hard to find in dubbed anime. This is a great series.
