Across the Universe (2007)
This movie was terrible
Saw a preview screening of this title. It was absolutely shocking that the Beatles would allow their music to be slaughtered in such a way. It was basically High School Musical with what should be a much better soundtrack. The acting, particularly from Evan Rachel Wood and Joe Anderson was terrible. The pacing was completely uneven. The singing was worse than an episode of American Idol. The dialogue was almost laughable. The direction was like watching a blind woman going in circles.
However what was the most surprising was that you almost regretted every time a song was used. It was so contrived that people were squirming uncomfortably in their seats. The characters were given strange actions so that the lyrics would fit logically in with the scene.
Not recommended for any Beatles fan or for anyone who likes good cinema.
The Indian in the Cupboard (1995)
Worst Movie Ever Made
When I was 9 years old someone brought over this movie and we watched it. I sat through the entire thing.
At the end the credits rolled up and in my innocent 9-year old voice, I proclaimed that this was the 'Worst Movie Ever Made!'
I am now 17 I have never seen the movie again I stand by that assessment.
Stupid, poorly acted, poorly directed, destroyed a reasonable book Highly unrecommended
The Dish (2000)
Terrific Film
Is this good
The makers of The Castle, Frontline and The Panel, the working Dog team have a talent for making people laugh out loud. People should go along to this movie expecting to feel better after.
The story surrounds the four men that work out in the giant "Dish" in the sheep paddock that will be used to transmit radio and television signals from the moon back to Mission Control. They include Sam Neil, as the "Dishmaster" and Patrick Warburton (remember Puddy from Seinfeld) as the American is there group.
Every Australian has to see this. The feel good movie of the year!
