Shadow Hours (2000)
Not as bad as the reviews.
If you like film noir with eclectic imagery (i.e. "The Hunger") then this is for you. Weller's performance is intriguing and will keep you guessing where he's going go. Peter Greene (Zed from Pulp Fiction) as a sleazy cop is interesting too.
Like "The Hunger", the writing/editing didn't quite hold the film together but hey, it doesn't have to be a 10 star movie to be worth watching.
Regarding Henry (1991)
Harrison Ford's Greatest Performance
The story and message of this movie is very predictable. Don't see it for the 'suspense' or twisting plot. See it for Harrison's performance.
Harrison is one of the best 'physical' actors and this script plays on this strength. It is a very enjoyable experience to see how Ford expresses very complicated emotions without saying a word. The inflections of his face can express more than almost any actor. Everyone knows he's a mumbler. It's not intended to be a slap to acknowledge it. In fact, his understated vocal expressions can accentuate if physical expressions.
The Man Without a Face (1993)
A statement of values!
What a wonderful movie! It is a social statement and an individual inspiration.
It comments on the consequences of the degraded family structure and, at the same time, the over meddlesome community standards. It examines the importance of individual integrity, industry, self-examination and, at the same time, the consequences of human failing and self-indulgence. It decries judging people and circumstances based on their surface appearances.
If you are looking for a film which exalts the individual and the powerful effect we can have on others, this is a must see movie.
